Had my oil and filter changed today. Car is 3 months of age and 2000 miles but wanted to see about getting a "SL" for the trunk lid. He had one. They put it on, did the oil and filter, cleaned the windows, and scanned under the hood, poking here and there, shaking wires etc, Final bill was $0.00. Oil and filter at this dealer is free of charge if you bought from him. The SL badge was free because someone from my area bought a pickup from him. Mentioned that a guy from around Big Spring said he was a good dealer. Thus the SL free badge.

He has two Versa SL, CVT, with convenience pkg, Splash Guards, one Powder White/charcoal and one Brilliant Silver/Charcoal due into to his place next week.

I'm going to mention the name, Permanin Basin Nissan, Midland, Texas. If you are wanting a Versa and can't find one and live near or in a state near by, call a guy named Brian there, make your deal, mention my name and you will get my Bird-Dog fee reduction if you are a MICOClub member. Also you will NOT have to pay MSRP of $17,125.00 as he will lop a couple hundred or more in your deal. I'll telling this because he is a good dealer to deal with. Sure, he want to make money just like everyone but he doesn't try to make it all from just a few, spreads it out.

I'm trying to talk him into be a preferred dealer and offer 10% discounts on parts to NICO members in person or mail order. Haven't got there yet but gaining.

Moderator: Hope I'm not breaking rules here. But so many want Versa and can't find them, thought I would pass this on. If it's a no-no, cut it off at the neck.

He said that the longest one has stayed on his lot for a week was a red one. Otherwise usually they day they arrive, they are sold.

I'm not sure if I'm breaking the rule also, but probably the best dealership here in Texas would be Baker Jackson in Houston, particulary the Baker Jackson South dealership. They seem to me like they want the business of every person who walks through the door. We got a thorough walkthrough of the vehicle and options. I got the best price in town there. Those customers who come from other cities and out of state are put on pedelstals...lol. They have an attitude of, "Hey, we're people too so we understand." If anyone's interested, I have the information for the Sales manager who can give you a really good deal. I can put a word in for you.

The worst would definitely would have to be Clear Lake Nissan. When I went in, I was the only customer there. One of the sales guy was sitting on a couch eating chips and watching tv. When we came it looked like no one wanted to help, but the guy on the couch did. I think only because we made eye contact. He didn't want to give us....at least the MSRP. About $1000 over. He said we wouldn't find a better deal anywhere else in town. We already had 3 MSRP quotes . And it seemed as if he was trying to discourage us from buying a car at all...lol. We were in and out within 10 mins.

Aha! My turn to chime in, since we're all being "Bad".

Nissan of the Eastside is my preferred Seattle dealer. They did NOT give me the best price (Straight MSRP), but they DID give me far and away the best service, both during and after the sale. I don't mind paying a couple hundred extra bucks on the bill for great service, which is becoming a rarity these days.

Performance Nissan of Everett is the worst. They entice you with what appear to be spectacular deals, but they're all smoke and mirrors. Best case scenario, you get out with a couple hundred off MRSP. Worst (and very common) case is they let you go with the car without a confirmation of interest rate from the bank, and they tend to promise rates they can't deliver just so you'll take the car and hope that when you have to come back in a few days because the % got jacked through the roof, that you'll like the car and will end up paying more. Furthermore, their service department does not conduct themselves in a professional manner. Caveat emptor!

My turn, my turn.........

I live in middle TN and within 100 miles of my house there are no less than a dozen Nissan dealerships. Some very large (500+ new vehicles on the lot) and some very small (less than 100 new vehicles).

My dealer (3 miles from my house) is one of the small town, very small shops - less than 100 new vehicles, old building, cramped lot, etc. I paid MSRP, but dealt with the owner directly (with an audience) negotiating my trade in value. The sales staff is small as would be expected - only 6 salesmen - and I've gotten to know all of them. I typically despise dealership service shops, but this one is better than ANY shop I have ever dealt with. The service manager, writer, and parts manager are all "good ole southern boys" and at least with me, so far they've all been nothing but honest and straight forward. I've never taken a vehicle to them that wasn't under still under warranty, but even at that, they've taken care of some small things for me that were not warranty issues. Things like a nail in a tire that they plugged (took the truck right in - no waiting) for no charge, replacing blown fuses - just small stuff, but means a lot to me.

They're great on the big things too ! My Titan had a battery drainage issue. Took it to them once, terminals were corroded, so they cleaned them and said "That'll fix it." I told them, "If it doesn't and the battery dies again, you'll be coming to my house to get the truck." Well, the battery died again - service writer and tech came to my house and got the truck. They gave me a car to drive and 2 days later, they had found the problem (stuck seat switch) and fixed it. Also had the ASCD switch problem with my V. They were backed up in the shop, so it sat for a couple of days, but they got it fixed. In the mean time, they gave me Sentra to drive. Hell, they gave my Mom a Sentra off their used lot to drive (7 weeks ) while they were finding her V.

I've been very upfront with the whole staff and especialy the owner. I told a group of salesmen that were in the "show room" (a joke at this facility) that I appreciated what they did, but it was the SERVICE dept. that kept a customer ! The owner has had this dealership since April of this year. He's made some changes - flipped sales managers twice - new finance guy - and I understand that..... got to get the right folks in those positions. BUT, I told him one day that if he "messed" with the service dept people, I would NEVER bring my vehicle back to them, nor would my Mom or another friend (we all have new V's). So far.... he's left those guys alone.

I know - I've gotten really longwinded - but one more thing. This dealership will be building a new facility soon. Again.... discussions with the owner.... we are a small country town, about 35 miles west of Nashville. My comment to him was that they had better NOT change their attitude (caring, friendly, helpful) when the new fancy building was done. That if they do - they'll turn people off in a heartbeat and they'll start going to Nashville to buy/service their cars. He agreed, and with as big a goof ball as he is, I can't imagine that anything will change.

BTW - the BEST Nissan dealership in Middle TN is Howerton Nissan in d!ck.

Nothing wrong with letting member's know who the best dealers are. We've had at least one "praise your dealer" thread in General Chat here in the past that I can think of.

As car as offering NICO member discounts, tell them to contact our CEO, Greg Childs (AZHitman on the forums) at [email protected]. Exposure to almost 50,000 nissan owners is pretty good incentive for discounts.

They are good if you knwo precisely what you want to buy and how much you want to buy. If not, they would take you on a ride. Be real patient with their idiosyncracies and I can guarantee that you would get the best deal out of them! I know my salesman was very efficient. He even followed up after purchase and still is in touch with me for feedback and what not. So, even though the company is not quite adept at customer care, the sales person is very efficient. I would recommedn it. I can also give you the contact info of the guy if you want to check it out.
