Hi everyone,

Just wanted to throw this question out there and see if anyone has any insight as to what might be wrong before I head to the dealer. Please see the video, link is at the bottom

I have a 2010 Nissan Versa SL hatchback with the CVT transmission. Right now it has approx 3900kms on it since it was purchased in March 2010. Lately (last 3 months or so) I have been having an intermittent problem with acceleration. I initially thought this was because of the car not being broken in yet but I believe that there is something wrong. I will have constant pressure on the accelerator pedal and the car will gather speed but around 40 km/h the engine RPM's will drop (either a big drop ~1000RPM or a smaller drop ~300RPM) and there will be a hesitation in the acceleration. This happens when the car is cold or warm. Many thanks!

I have an 08 and this has been happening to me at the same speeds. I thought it was because I wasn't pressing the gas enough to keep accelerating.

I watched your video and it looked ok to me. An rpm level of 1400 on my 2007 CVT is 40-42 miles per hour. In fact, people over the years here have found that the most fuel efficient rpms to accelerate at is 1400. As you accelerate the engine still has to shift to a higher gear which drops the rpms. The CVT just makes the shifting smoother but the car still shifts gears.

I'm no expert or engine tech; maybe one of them would like to chime in?

Hey kvg, what was your thought? What did your buddy say it was?

Hey deiselbro, I am experiencing the exact same problem. Doesn't happen if I accelerate a bit more aggressively than normal driving. I am planning on taking it in to Nissan and see what they say. Keep me updated if you find a resolution.

Thank and good luck
