hey guys, i blew out the CD Player and AC control lights in an '07 Versa S Sedan trim. I checked every fuse on the driver side and in the engine bay. none of them are blown. something is wrong. is there a hidden fuse anywhere? or are my wires zapped and need to be replaced? i called a few service depts, and they all wont even attempt to help me, just tell me to drop it off for a while. shoot, i can fix it, i just can't figure out what i need to fix!

in addition, i'm looking for a circuit or wires that i can hook LEDs up that turn on with the dome light. doesn't say in any of the manuals i have or have downloaded.

Thank you for your time, and thanks if you solved my question, or even tried

edit:

in addition to that, my horn no longer sounds when i lock the vehicle with the remote

Locate your dimmer switch to the left side of the steering coloum near the edge of the dash and turn your dash lights up some. The radio and A/c illumination lights will only come on when the parking or headlamps are on.

On your remote press and hold both the lock and unlock for more then 2secs till you hear the horn beep. You should now have horn chirp when arming your alarm.

I am assuming this must be out of warranty if your trying to fix it.

Couple of questions. Does the lights in the door lock and power window switches light up when the head lights are on? Does the glove box light come on when the headlights are turned on?

Also when the headlights are on are the tail lights working?

the door lights up with the headlights, and the taillights aren't working. i do have warranty, but i can do it if i figure out what it is. i live a lifestyle where i cannot drop the car off for repairs

The tail lights not working is a sign. If your tail lights are also not working there is no way neither the window switch lights or the instrument cluster is lightling up. I suspect the warning lights in the cluster are lighting up but the illumination is not.

In the world of control units and CAN systems diagnosing what appears to be a simple electrical problem is not so simple anymore. Here is how your lighting works. The switch on your coluom no longer supplies power and ground to the lights. What happens is the switch is a control unit when you turn your lights on it sends a data pulse to the BCM [body control module] the body control module evaluates the pulse and then sends a signal out on a twisted pair of data wires in a series of high speed pulses that no modern peice of test equipment can test. This signal is sent to the IPDM-ER [intelligent power distribution module- Engine room] module contains within it a control unit and several power control relays and fuses. It takes that signal and decides which relays to ground which will activate the circuit requested. This can all be tested very easily with a consult to narrow down the failure. With a consult plugged in you can go into the bcm and moniter signal inputs and out put requests. You can see if the switch is sending a signal to it to turn on the lights. If that all checkes out then you know the input circuit is working. You then can go into the IPDM-ER and moniter the BCM requests coming in. After doing so you can then use consult to activate each individual circuit and see if it activates. This IPDM controls 90% of all none engine components on the cars power supplies.

Inside this IPDM are a series of fuses these fuses are the feeds from the relay to the requested components. There is a fuse in there labeled "tail" If that fuse is blown thats your problem, if it is not blown you probably have a control unit failure. Either the switch, the BCM, or the IPDM.

Remove the cover to the IPDM [located next to your battery on the fender side ,big black cover] You will see several fuses in it, invert thcover and locate the fuse labled "tail" Check that fuse. It is Fuse #37.

*problem solved*

i was checking thee box in front of the battery. i did not know that there was a second set of fuses to the right of the battery. found the tail fuse, replaced it, and that fixed the dash lights.

thank you. would have taken me a bit to find that one out.

Is this the black box with 4 white tabs? I popped the tabs out and theres a ton of wires connected to the bottom that kind of prevent me from pulling it out. Is there any special way to do this?

once you remove the cover your should be able to clearly see all the fuses. There should be no wires to pull on.

I see that with the fuse box in front of the battery, but not with the one to the right? Is there a secret to removing the cover? Am I looking at the right box when I mentioned four clips?

release the tabs at either side and remove the top cover. once that cover is off you will be looking straight down on the ipdm with the fuses and relays. This image is of an 08 versa.

I have to be a total and complete idiot. This is exactly what I've been looking at. I've been releasing the tabs. and when I pull it up there's wires connected to the bottom. So I can't pull it out. Time to goto the dealership I guess.

Is the black part supposed to be seperate and thin like the other fuse box?? Is mine sticking to another part maybe?

i popped it out, turned it a little bit, and flipped it sideways. you need to be steady with it, so you can check the fuses, and also hole the panal still.

all the wires shouldn't be a problem. when i did it, i barely had enough room to see all of them. hope you have success with this. if not, click on my page, and shoot me an e-mail and i'll get back to you

a more awake response:

check your tail lighs man!

the fuse i blew was the tail light fuse, and i'm lucky i didn't get pulled over or get a ticket! don't take it to the dealership! just "shimmy" your way to the fuse, the cables will extend a little to give you the room you need. i did the same thing with my fuse, and was also doing the same thing.

like i said, check that fuse, the tail light, it's a 10 fuse, the red kind. don't put it off, do it asap and save yourself from some trouble at night

At least my brake lights work. As soon as I get out of here I'll head to the store and get some fuses and rip the box thing out and shove a fuse in. Thanks for the help. There aren't any spares in the car already are there?

no fuses in the car. the break lights should work, but your tail lights for night driving are out.
