Hi there. I just got a brand new Nissan Versa 2010, 4 speed auto (not CVT). Only 100 kms on it so far. Wondering if it is normal for the Brake Pedal to vibrate when the car is stopped in when the shifter is in "Drive" (example, red light)? If I switch the car to "Neutral" or "Park", the vibration in the brake pedal goes away. Thanks.

I also have the 4-spd and mine has a little vibration, but I am used to it after 30,000 miles. Is yours enough to numb your fott or you just feel it enough to ask? I think others have mentioned it in varying degrees.

what are you idling at when stopped in drive? Seems like the rpm's are getting low. It happens to me when I have the AC on, or when i have a lot of electrical accesories turned on.

I can feel the brake pedal vibrate to the sound of the engine when the car is idling in "Drive". The RPM is quite low - somewhere between 600-800 rpm. A/C, heat, radio, lights are all turned off. The vibration is not *that* much, but it's enough the feel. Just wondering if it is normal for the pedal vibrate. Since I just got this car brand new, just worried if something is not right. Thanks.

Not knowing how strong the vibration you are feeling... I can only guess that it is the normal pulse many automatics exhibit when the driver steps on the brakes, but not hard enough so the automatic crawl is completely stopped.

I get that too....less now when I upgraded my ground wires, next is to replace my aging battery with something more powerful.

Thanks for your responses. What is upgrading the ground wires and how can that reduce the brake pedal vibration when the shifter is in "Drive" and the car is idling (red light)? Thanks.

it is the engine that causes the brake vibration, rpms drop too low causing hesitation which is passed onto your pedals.

I wonder if the dealer could raise our rpms at idle up a tiny bit more to compensate for the rpm drop at red lights with the brake pedal pressed.

i've tried bigger and more grounding wires..didn't help with the vibration.

I used to have it in my old car too, until I upgraded to a quality battery. I will be upgrading to an Optima Red Top soon

I am looking for a good deal on a red top myself, hoping that will cure it. I am thinking it may be are under powered alternator though.

I may try this one:

So glad to see I'm not the only one. Just got my car back from general maintenace and within several minutes of driving away noticed brake vibrating when stopped at light. The only thing I was doing when this happened was I lowered the window. I noticed if you lower or raise windows, the shimmy gets worse. Anyone else notice correlation?

Also, another post on another web site said they saw mechanic force oil filter in and vibration started right after that maintenance. I noticed after the last oil change, the car was running rougher 6 months ago too.

Am headed back to dealer tomorrow and will let you know what they say.

Keeping my fingers crossed as I have a bad back and leg and won't be able to tolerate the vibrations in foot.

I HAD A VIBRATION IN BRAKE PEDAL AFTER DEALER CHANGED THE OIL AND AIR FILTER.I HAD IT FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS AND THAN IT WAS GONE. NEVER HAD IT JUST WITH OIL CHANGE ONLY . SEEMS LIKE AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT HAD AN EFFECT ON THE VIBRATION.

My 07' SL Sedan has done this since I drove it off the lot brand new. Nissan's explaination is that they simply put "cheap alternators" in the V's and the shudder/vibration is the engine nealry cutting off due to lack of sufficient spark. Thus, rolling down the windows, having the a/c on, or using any extra electricity while idling will cause this. Thanks Nissan!

Basically anything that induces an electrical load on the car while you are stopped in Drive. Window Defroster is the killer.

Now the question is, how do we fix it?
