Well I don't have a versa, I have a '03 Spec V. Besides the point, I was looking into a Nissan Versa, for better gas mileage.....but I was also looking into a Nissan Pulsar Gti-R, which is the same size and length as the Versa. Now they sell the SR20DET with the AWD transmission for about $1500 to $1800, the question is should I take a chance and trade in my SE-R for a Versa and do the swap, or just drop the idea? I'm asking you people for an opinion on this matter? thank you

I wouldn't do anything until the warranty expired if you do get one. Anyway, with enough time and money to convert the systems you could do about anything you wanted.

Of course, you could save a bunch of heartache and simply TC the Versa motor and be done with it (Tho, no AWD)

In many places in the US, you also have to watch out with release and discontinuation dates of engines.

SR20 variants in the US all became discontinued before the release of the versa, so in many places, refitting one is not street legal.

There IS an AWD version of the V, but it doesn't have balls. It's a 1.5L AWD automatic TIIDA, and the only place I know for sure that it is sold is Japan.

He was discussing a complete AWD retrofit. The Tiida is not a true AWD anyway as it uses a generator to provide power to the rear wheels instead of a driveshaft.

Well I don't have anything against the 1.8L engine. I know they make turbo kits for that engine, but the only thing is that once you turbo the 1.8L, it's only as faster or (faster) then a SRT-4 or Mazdaspeed 3. I mean, why spend $4000 on a turbo kit that only can produce 250 hp maybe more and only as fast as the turbo Neon and turbo Mazda 3. I can spend $4000, in an SR20DET with AWD transmission for $1500, and stock be as fast as the Evo's and STI's. Then still have money to spend on basic performance parts, I like the idea of the Versa AWD turbo, but I can't find anyone to do the swap. I was looking into a Tiida but the transmission from the Sunny /Pulsar is the same as the Skyline, just smaller. It's 50/50, and I dont know what the Tiida's AWD ratio is?!?!?!?

do you have any understanding that the Pulsar driveline will not fit in a Versa? unless of course you fabricate a new chassis and make everything work. why not just import a Pulsar? oh, and a stock Pulsar drivetrain in ANY car will not touch an Evo or STi. dont get a versa, plain and simple.

Solutions: A) buy G35xB) save money for new GTR C) buy a skyline GTR D) buy a wrx/sti/evo/etc

Otherwise you are spending WAY too much money on a Versa.

As I stated before, the AWD Tiida does not have a "standard" AWD setup.

The transmission powers the front wheels. In a "slip condition" (if the 4WD switch is pressed), a generator driven off the front axles (or belt driven or whatever) sends power to a motor system that runs the rear wheels. There is no drive shaft to the rear wheels. The Pulsar AWD setup won't work with the Versa. You would have to totally redesign the floor pan and framerail setup throughout the vehicle to support true AWD.

If you have the money to spend, go for it. Take lots of pictures and when you are done and it works I will ensure you a special article on the finished product off the NICO homepage

I have experience driving a JDM March with the same e-4WD setup as the Tiida. All the system does is to assist you in moving from the full stop. It disengages automatically at 30 km/h, and does nothing for any kind of traction loss above that speed. It functions more like a traction control in that it is purely a street start-up assist.
