I just got my 2008 Versa Hatchback with convenience package and I love it so far. I would like to upgrade the speakers and need info on speaker sizes, recommendations, etc... Thinking about keeping it simple, keep the factory head and just put in MB Quart speakers possibly. Do I need an amp with that?

I upgraded my speakers to 6.5 inch Kenwood's on the two front and two back doors. Basically, the speaker size are 6.5". I also went with a 1000 watt 12" kenwood sub and 1000 watt amp in the trunk. I haven't touched the tweeters on the sides by the windshield.

The headunit I left alone. I didn't want to lose the bluetooth capabilities and had no luck finding a kenwood headunit that was compatible with the aftermarket steering wheel controls to the Versa.

Overall, sound quality is much better. I think the aftermarket speakers have less bass, but the midrange and highs sound much cleaner. The amp makes up for the loss of lows. Personally, I would stay away from Sony, their quality plummeted over the past few years. I would go with Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer or something similar. Hope that helps.
