Aftermarket Speaker Installation Guide for 2007 Nissan Versa SL (without convenience package):

Necessary tools:1. Butt connectors(Get at least 50).2. Wire clippers, preferably ones that clip and strip.3. A drill gun, for removing screws. (or a #2 Phillips screwdriver)4. A razor.

First, you have to take off the door panels of each door you are installing a speaker into. To do this you have to take off the two escutcheons that are around the door handle. You may need a flathead screwdriver to assist you, but be extra careful with them, you don’t want to break the tabs that hold them in.

After this, you have to pull out the bucket handle that has the window lever on it. This should pull out fairly easily, but make sure to detach the plug that is attached to the window lever.

Next, there are either one or two screws that act as a safety so that people don’t pull off the panel every time they pull the door shut. With that being said, you won’t be able to get the panel off with the screw(s) in and you’ll have a hard time keeping it on if you lose them, so just don’t lose them. There will be two screws in the front panels and only one in the back panels.

After you remove the screws, you can begin pulling the panels off carefully, being wary of breaking tabs that hold the panels in place.

Once you have the panel off, you can see the speaker. On top of the speaker is a plug. As a rule of thumb, the negative lead is always the one facing the front of the car.

With that being said, you should easily be able to dismount the speakers by removing the three screws on the housing. You should have plenty of depth to fit your new speakers, and to mount them you can use a ring from a paint can.

Obviously splice into the existing wires accordingly and you should have a flawlessly working door speaker. To put the panel back on, just make sure to pull the panel up and up to the window to ensure that the weather stripping for the window is in place (otherwise there will be an obvious gap at the top of the panel between the window).

Now just carefully pop each tab back in and replace everything that you took apart. And do not forget the very important screw.
