I'll let you know how one of these looks on Friday... shipped out yesterday. Asked for a comp and leakdown before buying and 200 "wet" and leakdown checked out ok so they say... so we will see. They were very nice to deal with, but not a huge fan of the wet comp test... not like I live next door and can make them do anything differently. My old project had a motor from them and it runs to this day (someone else owns it)... cross your fingers for me!

Interesting info:Shipping weight - 450lbs includes manifolds and turbo but no alt, starter etc

Make sure you compression test it as it comes off the truck!!!

Ronald and Vicki sure do seem nice. But when you get Focked, they nicely don't hang up the phone on you.

+1 for comp. test it right off the truck.

I got a bad engine twice from them... and they weren't very nice to me.

I just hope that by letting everyone know how shady they are I can save someone from the same problems I had.

Like I've told people before, if you live next to Venus you probably won't be screwed, but if you live accross the country there's not much you can do to convince the owner to run an ethical business.

The only time I got a suck engine from venus it was a ga16de replacement for my 200sx. It arived seized. I called Ronald and he had me tear it down and take pictures(just good buisness practice). He didn't have any ga16 left so he gave me sr20de, wiring harness, ecu, and transmission for the cost of shipping. It think I ended up paying around $600 total.

What you should have done was get a Torque wrench and a vidoe camera and showed him how much torque you were putting on it and the motor not spinning.

I don't have any more time for tearing down motors or a place to do it.That's BullSH@T!!!!

Plus you had to pay for a GA16 plus another $600.Bro you got FOcked too!!You can get a GA16 at a LOCAL junkyard for like $200 nobody wants them.

No, that was $600 for a ga16de($350 shipped) that was seized and the sr20 swap($250 shipping) total. Plus I sold parts off the ga16 and made about $100 bucks back. As for tearing down the motor, I would expect that from any place that got a seized engine claim. Maybe that's from being in retail for the last eight years and knowing what people will do to screw a company.

venus is a joke, you should see the employee's who work there just a bunch of fooking dumb kids or some hispanic people that look like day laborer's (no offense!, LA MIGRA mutha fokers!) ... who just throw around jack shyt off the front clips, strip shyt off it....last time I was there.. I live 5 miles away from Venus......there was this R33 RB25DET front clip ready to be shipped out and i seen ronald mcdonald swaping out the gauge cluster and putting in a different cluster in..so the mileage wouldn't be accurate! my 2 cents....BTW anyway seen that S15 rear end body frame haha! $500 bucks haha wonder how much it would cost to mold it into a S14

Yeah he sent me a gauge cluster that said my clip only had 60,000 KM (37,283 Miles).

Ther is NO way in hell that motor only had 37K on it. HAHA that motor was beat to shyt and it was rebuilt or at least taken apart numerous times.

Does anyone happen to know that Vicky has not worked there for over a year now?

A few weeks ago I purchased a Subaru power steering rack. Every time I go there it is only Ronald and one other guy there. A few years ago Venus was as GIJOE69 described. Today it is different. You are buying used parts. You want a 100% guarantee then source it close by so you can deal with the seller direct. Stand over their shoulder and watch them do a compression test.

Well... I dropped the engine at the house.

Couldn't test it off the truck b/c it came into shipping/receiving here at work... but I'll do it when I get back home. The turbo has no shaft play in it, so that's a good start.

I had a blown trans in my first motor (ordered a clip) from them years ago. Called them up and they shipped another one to me splitting the shipping cost... we'll see on this motor. I'd agree that being next to where you buy it would be great... chances are that'd put me in the back in the South East or Cali... and not MI! J/K... anyway... I guess we will see.

Well, this is what I have so far:

Leakdown1 - 4%2 - 5%3 - 12%4 - 6%5 - 2%6 - 2%

Hoses are dry rot free... so that's a plus... actually a first for any of the motors I've ever had/installed. Cyl 3 isn't great, but I'll probably still put it in the car... run it... and try again. I think I'm going to go ahead and put my RB25 turbo on though since I'll have a baseline from my last dyno pull to compare how healthy this motor is running.

Intake manifold was missing a bolt... just fyi. Never had this come up on any of my clips/motorsets, but I guess something to watch out for if you order a longblock. Motor looks pretty good though for the most part so far, but plenty left to go over before she goes in to the car.
