The Carbon Creations/Extreme Dimensions vented hood doesn't come with the covers. The one ESP has does, and I'm not sure what Dangeris is doing.

Ya I woke up this morning just to see rain out my window I get super nervous, I usually cover up my intake with a trash bag while I wash my car. Last time it rained I popped my hood open and my intake and battery were soaked, scared me. I think that's why my grille lights burnt out

I don't have a problem with rain or when I wash my car. I've driven my car in couple of torrential down pours and the I've been good so far (knock on wood. I will be designing some sort of "baffling" system this winter since there are two layers to the hood. But to be clear, no problems here thus far

I purchased the Hydro shield for my K&N intake. That works very well. popped the hood today to throw a bag over my battery and all I saw were beads of water on my shield. As far as the battery, it was soaked. I am very nervous about it but I think it will be ok. I am in the process of getting a battery cover made but looks like the guys I am dealing with are phucking slackers.

The VIS vented hood has covers underneath the vents. I left the cover on the vents over my intake. I felt like being safe rather than sorry.

Yup, the ViS Racing hood comes with a pair of covers, but the ED hood doesn't. I used to be really careful about keeping the intake side covered if I know it was going to rain, but lately I've been a bit more cavalier about it. A big ol' +1 to whoever mentioned getting a hydroshield for their intake. I've always used one on my cars and it helps immensely!

To the OP, I've driven with my hood vents open in torrential downpours and haven't had ANY problems thus far. Keep in mind that our cars are pretty aerodynamic so even at lower speeds I'm thinking there isn't much water getting into the engine bay...

water does get in but not as much as you'd think. I've taken mine to the local car wash and after washing it, when I pop open the hood there is little water on the battery and on the engine cover but my filter is ALWAYS dry

My filter isn't always dry and my battery is usually pretty soaked after I wash my car. I can't seem to find any hydro shields though

one thing to keep in mind that the filters are designed to have maximum airflow even when wet! Now I'm not saying submerging it in water but a little water is not gonna hydro-lock you decide to go through a real deep puddle and your intake becomes a straw...not good

Ya I've had two friends hydro lock recently so I get paranoid. One drives a pre runner and was going through a massive puddle, the other in a lowered xB with a CAI (the one that sits right next to the driver side wheel).

You have to create an account with them first though... I'm sure eBay has 'em too. If you're really not finding anything, let me know and I'll send one down from Canada for you. One of our tuner shops up in Calgary always has a healthy stock of them.

Thanks ESP, was just about to link that. I bought the black one in the large size for my K&N. It fits perfect!
