Vent selector problem 1989 nissan hardbody.

I recently had to use my defroster on my 1989 hardbody and now it will not work properly. I can only select defrost, defrost with feet, or feet. The selector is on vent whien it blows feet. It feels jammed or something. I have a chilton's manual and located what the selector moves on the side of the center hump. Is there another part that moves behind the selector? What I do not now is how to adjust it so that I can get air to come through the face vents again.

It's cable driven, I have seen the cable bind up behind the HVAC control.
