Hi everyone,
When I bought my pathfinder the vents only blew out of the defog and the footwell not the dash vents. Suddenly they started only blowing out of the dash vents and I have no defog or foot vents, the fan speeds and temperatures still work perfectly. I haven't been able to find anything on what controls the vent directions, I've only seen that the blower motor resistor controls fan speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's a 1999 Pathfinder LE with the face lift. Thanks in advance

The LE model has several control motors for the A/C system. Aside from from blower motor, there is an intake door motor, air mix door motor, and mode door motor all controlled through an A/C auto amp. and the push of a button. My '02 SE model is all old school manual control knobs, cables, and levers. I'm thankful for that because it's easier to figure out the weak link in the mechanics if something goes wrong like what you are finding with your LE. The factory service manual for your '99 LE has a trouble shooting section starting on page HA-29. Reading through this might help you to figure out what you need to do to fix the issue. https://www.nicoclub.com/service-manual ... 9%2Fha.pdf

Md has it right, and in this instance, your problem will be the Mode Door servo. It's on the HVAC Unit above the gas pedal and isn't all that difficult to replace. However, on a vehicle that age, make sure the problem isn't a jammed linkage or stripped splines on the actuator shaft. Take the servo loose and operate some different modes. If the servo moves smoothly when off the shaft then you may have a mechanical issue with the linkages or doors.
