I know JW ECU's are the best for any nissan owner but I was curious if the Venom chips were more beneficial than not for my j30. Any feedback would be great. :help

Not sure about the venom chip. But I have the same question about the jetchip for my 98Q45t - anyone have any experience with an installation for this. Also - anyone have any experience with the Iridium spark plugs and the Q - I've got 54k miles and am ready to change the plugs...trying to decide what plugs to go with. My friend who's a mechanic says go with the stock plugs - but he's not a speed freak...

Stock plugs are for speed freaks that's the way the engine was designed. Iridium nor plutonium plugs won't add one HP over oem plugs.

The goal is to use the plug that was designed for the exact combustion chamber configuration.

The main reason plugs are changed at 60k is to prevent them from galling and freezing into the head! Plus to make sure a tech examines the wells every 60k for oil leaks.........so they [valve covers] can be resealed in less time as a few hours is saved [still takes an extra 4 hours once you are down to the plugs].

A Bosch engineer in Mesa told me to stay away from their products for the Q. That should be enough to sway you.

NGK engineers even say to use the NGK OEM-spec platinums ONLY as the combustion chamber of VH45DE is a "scary environment" for plugs (his words).

Should I expect this on "Q2" - 47K, 13 years old, original spark plugs...

Any special tricks to removing the plugs? I want to have everything else done first (guides and flushes at T3) before I replace them, so they'll probably be DIY in Columbia...

Umm... I don't mean to be rude but how did the the topic go from Venom chip to spark plug wires for the Q?

Just changed mine 13 years/55,000 miles, no problems. Your valve covers must be leaking at the back though, Much easier to have plugs changed in conjunction with valve cover reseal.

Yea I've noticed, the Q's have taken my thread hostage. Maybe I'll just try the Venom on my mom's Q first and see if it has bad results... :pface No use in hurting a perfectly good J over it.

There is no such thing as a perfectly good J. The trunk alone looks like a wasp's arse (without the stinger).

I've been bashing the J since day one chief. Infiniti took an Altima, stretched it a bit, threw in a V6 and lit the arse end on fire for that melted hog-head cheese look. Face it, the J30 is the Japanese 83 Cadillac Seville. No hard feelings and welcome to NICO!!:D (very, very few share my sentiment by the way)

That picture is a horible depiction to compare to the J. I agree that the back is way too sloped than it should have but with the spoiler it doesn't look bad. It is also looked at as one of the best model Infiniti has come up with since the Q, mostly for its ability to stand out. Trust me, my dad works for the company and I know their cars inside and out, and one thing I've learned is that once someone has owned a J and given it up, they always regret it and come back looking for another one.

Very eloquently put:rolleyez . If only the Ring where still in existence I would treat you to the humiliation you deserve. Until that time comes refrain from such (implied) vulgar language you dildo driving imbecilic basturd.

Cyber I posted the Caddy only for the sloped trunk comparison and for humor.

I figured as much but I still have to hold up the pride of my car whether it be sarcasm or not. That Caddy is too funny though, I mean that tail end is repulsive. But I would like to get some sort of response to my original question: Quote » Venom chip: Good or Bad? [/quote] :angryfire

LOL @ ANYONE who takes Dees seriously... His mom got run over by a speeding J30 (aka Oprah's Left Buttock) and he hasn't been the same since. :D

I'm searching for some info on the Venom chip - I believe from what I've read so far it's no different than what Jet does....

Post your question in the Online Mechanic section - Dees is usually too busy reading his "Chilton's Manual for early 90's Reattas" to wander in there... :D

Dees, we miss ya, brotha.

J30...

Well here is a piece of my own history. I moved to the US in 94 from a nice little European country, where the only Japanese cars were Toyota Corollas, Toyota Coronas, Mazda 323s, and Honda Integras (Yes Honda, not Acura).

So it was always a funny site everytime I saw a car on the street I'd wonder what year, model and brand the car was, wonder its performance specs and of course price.

First time I saw the J30 the thing that struck me first was the interestingly shaped rear end. Can't say I loved it, but didn't dislike it either. The front end however was really beautiful and sport looking for my own taste.

I bought a 93 J30 in 2001 and turned it in late 2002 for a Q. The J was pure joy and excitement. It was quick, nimble, cornered good and hugged the road just like glue on paper.

Too bad no more J30s are made. But other than the ridiculously low steering wheel and small trunk space it was a 5 star car...
