1. The differences between the red and black top S13 SR20's is year differences. Redtops are older, thus, cheaper; black tops are newer, thus more expensive. If you want an S14/S15 engine, those are really expensive, wiring is more difficult, and they aren't as upgrade friendly as the S13's.2. I'm getting mine from

Wayne at phase2 has an excellent track record for getting engines. One of the reasons I chose him. He only gets the ones that are in the best shape.4. For a redtop clip, I'm paying $2500. That is the normal price, don't pay less otherwise there may be something wrong, but you can take your chances (that's my opinion).5. I'm doing my swap in my friends driveway, that is the mechanical stuff, then I'm towing my car back to phase2, and they are going to do the wiring for me. I just don't feel like messing with it. Heavy Throttle also has a wiring service for $100. That would probably be the smartest thing.
