I know that Advance Auto can get them, but I seriously doubt that they stock them. Most places will have them as a special order only.

i got some total seal chrome rings from advance. they can really get you a vast array of different types. mine were upwards of $90 and they are the bomb.

Almost all aftermarket pistons are the same now. They all follow the same standards, so attesting to one over the other does not make much sense.

What DOES make allot of sense, is if you are going to be PAYING FOR NEW CUSTOM PISTONS, CHANGE SOMETHING. There is no purpose for a custom piston just for change in material. So, change compression, bore, swirl, gas ports.

Finding a company that can help you in designing a custom piston to fit YOUR needs is the company you should go with.

In my case, i wanted 90mm SR pistons, with gas ports on the top ring, at a 9.5/1 Ratio. I went with venolia.Http://www.rpsportengineering.com

I'm running the CP pistons from http://www.raceeng.com and I'm pretty happy with them. They're overbored w/a different compression ratio.

If I was going to do it again, IDK that I'd do 9.5:1. On high octane fuel, the engine is phenomenal. It's got crazy torque for a 1.8L, great throttle response, quick turbo spool up, just all around better. But on pump gas, it's A PAIN to tune. LOTS of retard. I'm thinking about converting to ethanol (home brewed) and not having to worry about it anymore. If I had planned on that from the start though, I'd have done it at 10:1, LOL. Oh well, hind site is 20/20.

I've considered this as well and will probably test it's effectiveness before converting to ethanol.
