Im trying to decide between the JWT pop charger... or a cold air RAM box intake, made by me...

I would modify the stock airbox...make it bigger, replace the front half of the box with a bigger unit with a significantly big opening at the front... Behind the air filter, the intake tube will use a velocity stack... the whole unit will be insulated...

My question is...
Have you tried a velocity stack?? like this one

I looked into JWT pop chargers... they use a velocity stack with a high flow filter...

I know I can make a JWT popcharger work better than average by redirecting air by making an air reservoir box with ram air... I dont know if a 3" velocity stack, K&N drop, ram air and insulated air reservoir would beat it...

So you basically want to use a popcharger kit with a larger velocity stack?

I'd rather you just use the standard items in the jwt kit, it probably wouldn't yield any difference..

But there you could also pair it up with one of those titek bumper cutouts for the Z to reduce the amount of heat the filter would suck in.

Or you could buy yourself a cold air intake without having to modify anything in the bumper since the filter itself sits right behind the grill.

from the sounds/looks of it, your spending waaay too much time trying to yeild gains from an intake..i would just buy the pop charger for 100 bucks(what i bought mine for) and call it a day. move onto something else to get gains. maybe even that bumper cutout like suggested above. not trying to be a d!ck..

thanks for the suggestions....

I recently installed the plenum spacer... blox 5/16, $100 still doesnt feel like a good deal cuz just a piece of plastic....
i want megan resonated test pipes but they, combined with a spacer and intake will throw off my stock AFR and tuning will cost more than everything else...

I currently think that the vq35 has a lot to gain with intake air pressure.... as you can see big gains for like 5-7psi with a turbo...
even 1psi created through ram air will make a significant gain if tuned right... but tuning is the issue as ram air would work different in different gears... the only way i think it would work epic would be with an auto AFR correcting system which is a project on its own...

but yea, now im thinking of relocating the radiator to the back end.. so I can do everything else better...but time will tell, maybe

btw...i did some calculations, not sure if they are right but at 30mph, a 2 square feet intake will accumulate 87 cubic feet of air/s while the engine will only consume 7 cubic feet of air per second at 6000rpm

if I get the radiator relocated I can use the whole bumper grill for ram air, im sure it would create a lot of pressure above 100mph
