2013 S Gen 1. Purchased 2014. Been a great car EXCEPT - Off and on it goes through periods of locking the doors by itself. Car has been garaged most of it's life so I never lock it in the garage. It will be fine for months (or years), then suddenly start locking itself overnight at random. Did it randomly for the past couple weeks and again last night. FOB is untouched and hanging on the wall about 30 ft away.

And twice over the years it's done this while it was running in driveway. Used my wife's key to unlock it. Now if I leave the car when running (at home) I don't close the door.

Anyone else have this issue on their Gen 1? Thanks everyone...

You’re not alone. I had the same problem on my 2009 throughout the years.

Same routine, open my window slightly if my keys are in the ignition. Remind the kids to not close the doors if they leave the vehicle.

Just got use to this annoying gremlin. Usually happens months apart. Definitely not a weekly thing. Usually shows up after long stretches of not happening.

I think only once did I have to retrieve my actual non-fob key spare when the doors locked with the darn keys inside. :gapteeth:

Change the driver's lock assembly, the cylinder switch is shot.

Thanks VStar. I assume you mean the manual lock mechanism in the driver side door? Are we talking 80501-JM00A?

Yep, that's it. It's connected to the cylinder by a linkage rod. They get wet and messy and start false-triggering the lock signal to the BCM.

VStar...thanks for the information!!!

I have been to the dealer and ragged on them about the self-locking and they claim they have never heard anything about that. Mine is a 2015 Rogue Select and it will lock itself sometimes while I am standing next to it, keys over on the porch. My wife got locked in the car once after shoulder surgery when I went into a pharmacy with the keys. She was unable to get to the door lock and finally, through a lot of pain got it unlocked....really pissed me off. I NEVER leave the keys in the car for any reason and have to remind the service folks like for oil changes to not leave them in either! Is "80501-JM00A" a part #, so I can tell the mechanic what to do?

Yes, that's a Nissan OE part number.

Thanks, I checked it out too. I did a search, Nissan wants about $175 for the part...robbery. Aftermarkets are about $45-$65. Nissan replaced part number 80501-JM00A with a new number, 80501-JM10A. Ref: link below near the thumbnail pictures.
