I was checking out the Nissan site and came across this accessory (Cost $69).Does anyone have any info on it, is it only available for the 2010 version, is it for the regular keys and has anyone added this feature yet?The Nissan site says: ■Responds to damaging impact to vehicle glass and painted surfaces■Works with factory-installed Vehicle Security System■Instantly triggers Vehicle Security System■Sounds horn for 30 Seconds■Arms and disarms with factory remote keyless entry

I am in Vancouver, BC and have seen this on the Nissan USA site, but not on the Canadian site.

I'm curious to find out if this option is compatible with Rogues distributed in Canada. I go to Oregon every year and am wondering if I have the prerequisites to have it added as an option while I am down there.

rolade01 I ask at my local Nissan dealer and they didn't have a clue about it either. They said to check back in a month or two as it seems to be a new option. I'm gonna see if I can get an product number or something and call them again about it.

According to the Genuine Nissan Accessory Installation Manuals, the Vehicle Alarm Impact Sensor is compatible with all model years/trims of Rogue's. The sensor simply connects to the existing anti-theft alarm that is standard on all Rogues in both the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Here is a direct link to the installation manual:

http://www.nissan-techinfo.com...4.PDF

The part number is 999M2-GV000Cost: $56.25 US from our site sponsor http://www.everythingnissan.com/

This is a pretty simple install and can be done by a DIY'er if you are at all familiar with basic electrical systems. You can purchase the part directly from the dealer. If you cannot source it at a Canadian Nissan dealer, I suggest purchasing online from the US.

I checked, this is a Rogue specific part. IF you can find the sensor, it should have the same adjustment screw to set the sensitivity. I would try looking behind the glove box first.

Too bad I didn't have this when my Rogue was hit in the parking lot. Them maybe the hitter would have left a note. Yea Right. Or maybe someone would have seen them and got their license plate number etc.

Does anyone know the difference between these two alarm impact sensors: 999M2-GV000 and 999M2-VW005? One dealer says the first part number and another dealer says the second. I've reviwed the installation instructions on both. I "assume" they are interchangeable, but the VW005 is a newer model as compared to the GV000 model. Thanks.

Nissan routinely uses different mfg's for the same part. Depending on availability, you may get one or the other but both should work the same.

The sensors appear to be identical in function. However, only Nissan engineers and/or their suppliers can tell you the differences if any. This information is not readily available... even the dealer does not know in many cases.

Thank you for the info and the quick reply. I was hoping this was the case, although a little odd. From a business (cost reduction) standpoint, it would be more cost effective to have one part number vs. two or more for the same part, but that is another story, I guess. Thanks again.

I wanted this feature as well, and the dealership had no clue what i was talking about! I always wondered why it was so cheap though. Maybe After the car gets a year old, I'll think about messing up the wiring trying to put it in myself.....the car is too new to take that chance right now.

You have an SL, right? Although I'm not 100% sure (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong) I think the Alarm Impact Sensor is a standard feature in the SL models. As for me, even though the install can be done by a DIYer, I'm going to have a Nissan tech install it. I don't want to take a chance in voiding any warranty by trying to save a buck by doing it myself. Enjoy! My wife and I love her Rogue.

The Impact Sensor was never offered as standard equipment on any Rogue regardless of trim level or year. It's only available as an accessory.

Thank you for the correction. If anyone may be interested I'll post how the install goes and my opinion of it's (the impact sensor) operation. $70 plus 2 hours of (Nissan dealership technician) labor ain't cheap, but may be worth the cost. We'll see. Thanks again for the correction.

Yahoo! Installation was great; done by a Nissan technician. Had to crank-up the sensitivity to 9. Total cost for parts and labor was just under $200, but it works like a champ. Must use fob to lock and unlock vehicle to arm and disarm system. 8^)

Just a minor inconvenience. To arm the sensor you must use the fob. If you live anywhere close to big city crime (ie: St Louis), I don't mind the inconvenience. You can still use the door handle button to lock and unlock your vehicle, as well as the interior buttons as well (to lock and lock the vehicle as before), but to arm the sensor you must use the fob. Sorry. One step forward and two steps back, so to speak.

Ok, that is not that bad.....this way you can choose when you feel you need the extra security or the convenience.....ok, now the purpose of this sensor is to make the alarm go off from someone touching the car? does it go off for strong winds and booming bass in cars driving past as well? how do you change the sensitivy? is it something you can do on your own or you have to bring it to the dealer to do it?

thanks

Exactly. It is a choice you can make (ie: leave car unlocked -- not recommended, lock car with door handle button or interior switch -- factory default method, and/or use key fob to arm the system -- increased security). It kind of depends on how you feel about your surroundings. The sensor has an adjustable knob on it to adjust sensitivity. Mine will probably trip and sound off if an uncorked Harley rides by. You have to remove the glove box to adjust the knob. The technician showed me the location of the sensor and the knob, so I can adjust it myself (if needed) vs. taking it back in for adjustment. Hope this helps.

Update: You can alarm and disarm the complete system (including the impact sensor) by locking and unlocking the vehicle using the thumb buttons on the door handles,,, meaning you don't have to use the key fob buttons. The sensor instructions said to use the key fob buttons, but like so many owners, I want to leave the fob in my pocket and use the keyless features as originally intended. 8^)
