Hello friends! i was hoping that you guys could help me find out if this is possible to do to my 240. I have a 1991 hatch and I am really into the veggie cars but why get one just for good mileage when you can get one to kick some *** and still get amazing mileage! I know how all car people think pimp my ride is a joke which it usually is but this episode is different they put a duramax diesel in a 65 impala it is 800 effin hp and still gets 25 mpg and i would do the veggie conversion like they did so it cost's nothing to make this beast live and breath. now they added alot of money on to the car to make it ultra fast. I see a stock duramax is reppin about 300 hp which is plenty for me i just want to know if it will fit and what kind of mods would be nessicary so i can properly plan financially for the job. if any one has a diesel 240sx or even a truck tell me how you like that engine? thanks!

Well to keep it short...
1st: I severly doubt it will fit without MAJOR modification to the car/chassis
which leads to:
2nd: If budget is any consideration at all then forget it. Diesels themselves are tremendously expensive (~4-5K) , not to mention all the custom work that will need to be done to the vehicle just to get it in there and working.
I know thats probably not what you wanted to hear, but its the truth, sorry

but if you think of doing an sr that is generally about 3 grand for a nice motorset the diesel isnt't much more i know you have to mod some things but fuel will be free or 50 cents a gallon and can be made at your house seems like it would equal out ya know ? not to mention its an emissionless vehicle that is fast it makes it seem worth it doesn't it ?

duramax is huge, no way it will fit in a 240sx, suprised it fit in an Impala for heigth issues........
those engines are MASSIVE lol plus exhaust plumbing, turbo, intercooler plumbing etc no way it will all fit, maybe without a hood you could work with something
plus its pretty heavy from what I understand
you would be better off with like trying to swap a VW TDI engine from a Jetta in there...... much smaller 4 banger.... still can make power, make a bellhousing adapter and put a T-5 or 240sx 5 speed on it or such...... u get the idea

Well i agree that it would be a cool project but I just don't think the 240sx is the car for it. I think you'd need something big and american, lol. Like maybe an '80 model single cab truck or something else with a HUGE engine bay. It would still be expensive but the diminutive size of the 240sx would make it ridiculous. The VW diesel mentioned sounds cool, and you'd probably be the first one with it too.
