What do you guys eat?

Being in school, it's hard for me to cook all the time but most of the things they have at the caf aren't really healthy/meatless.

Any super fast/easy to make recipes that are loaded with protein?

TIA

I like to have a good red slab of beef... raw, with a live chicken on the side. What's that? Oh, vegitarian meals? Not in my vocabulary.

The man that started the Vegan movement, the extremist vegetarians, died of malnutrition.

Finding and preparing tofu on-campus might be a tad difficult. There are excellent recipies online. Tofu lightly toasted in a pan with the right spices served with lightly cooked veggies is mighty good. Beans of course are high in protien, but re-fried have enormous fat content. Try a seven-bean salad. Black beans, pinto's, red, chickpeas, and any others from a can (pre-cooked), mixed together with a light italian dressing and served with a good salad or arugula leaves. I'm definitely not a vegetarian, but these are some yummy things.Easiest of all... whey protien supplement from a nutrition center. Some actually taste ok (Met-Rx), but damn costly. Meal in a glass. Supplement with veggies for essential vitamins and amino's. Are we bored yet?

I've just been eating lots of salads with beans, tofu, and cheese. Lots of nuts too. I don't want to have to drink protein shakes and meal supplements. Most of that stuff is gross and costly. Guess I'll just stick to the salads and stir frys. And arugula is sooo good.

You should try some edamame also. Good for snacks. Boil in water and add salt. Easy!

For my information:

Why not eat meat? What's wrong with beef? Why go out of your way to exclude it?

Most of my vegetarian recipe's start with me shooting said vegetarian, go for a head shot as neural tissue is not very healthy. I recommend getting some good filet's out of the thigh's, and if they are in shape...a good rump roast is heavenly. Once you have your filet's cut, season them with a light coating of chile powder, all season salt, touch of sugar, and pepper. Cook the vegetarian steaks over a cool mesquite fire to really flavor things up. Oh wait....thats not what you meant is it?

"In everything, moderation"
1. Eating meat isn't good for you and it's even worse for the environment. Meat eaters are 40% more likely to get cancer. It takes 200 times more resources, i.e. water etc., to produce a cow than it does an entire field of veggies.

Makes more sense to grow veggies for consumption than to grow veggies or sustain grass and feed for cows for food.

2. I haven't eaten beef in like 3 years. I don't like the taste and I don't miss it at all.

3. I'm not really going out of my way. I've never eaten much meat to begin with. A few weeks ago, I ate some meat and got a little sick so I've become repulsed by it ever since. I don't miss it and I have no desire to eat it. I don't feel weak or malnourished. I was just asking for recipes but instead people insist on bashing vegetarians and labelling it as "trendy".

I get a lot of protein and vitamins from veggies, soy, beans, and nuts.

Most meat eaters I know are actually vitamin deficient because they aren't getting enough fruits and veggies in their diets. So it really goes both ways.

I also think that whole "save a cow, eat a vegetarian" slogan is f vcking retarded. How about we eat your fatass Jesda and save the thousands of cows you'll eat in your lifetime?

I eat mostly chicken. Not a big fan of beef. I hate chickens, and everyone I eat is like getting vengence on those dirty bastards.. I do need to eat more veggies though.

Ahh yes, I knew there was a good reason for me to stay up tonight. So I could observe and note that Vicki cannot take a joke. Or she's afraid I am going to eat her.

Like I said previously, eat what you like. And remember...

ITS JUST FOOD. IT DOES NOT INVOLVE EMOTIONS. I repeat, IT IS JUST FOOD.

If you continue to stress over these nonsensical things, your hair will fall out. Save your anger for something worth getting upset over.

So, does anyone else like broccoli?

It's the fvcking principle of the matter, Jesda. It's something I feel strongly about, yet you insist on making a mockery out of it repeatedly, even after I told you that I don't appreciate it. I don't know about you, but people who I consider friends usually get my f vcking support in their decisions, whether or not I agree with them. There are things I want to add to this but I won't say it here out of respect, get on aim if you want to argue this.

This is like politics and religion, people feel very strongly about it and are easily threatened by opposing views because they can't refute the opposition. It's just the way it works, nobody has a definitive answer on any of these things. It's not math, it's opinionated.

From my experience, eating only vegetables is not better for you than eating a mix of meats and plants. If you have to take vitamins in order to stay healthy your diet is incomplete. Vitamins aren't a natural food (even those "All natural" pieces of crap). This is only my opinion. I love meat and eat it all the time. I also eat vegetables and fruits because I enjoy some of those too. I never take any vitamins, rarely get sick, and am in decent shape. Plus I'm not a stuck and whining about how other people live. You don't want to save the cows, so don't pass that as an argument for vegetarianism. You can bet that if they thought we tasted good and they could take us out we'd be on their menu. Lions, tigers, hyenas, other wild animals eat humans when available. We are omnivores, always have been and always will be. You can eat one thing more than the other if you like but to say that we shouldn't eat the other is bullhuckey. It's how we've evolved, and I don't anticipate the move to vegetarianism until we kill off all the animals on the planet. You can continue to live your way, just don't present these made up "facts" (there have been plenty of studies done that refute that meat is bad for you. Excessive consumtion of fatty meats can lead to heart failure, but that is unrelated to a healthy, meaty diet) or act like we are inhuman for eating meat.

I take offense that you don't understand or listen other people's opinons on this and are unwilling to listen to it or take the jokes you are asking for by starting this thread. Simple fact, if you post something that is a matter of opinion, you will have people who disagree with you reply whether their argument is justified or an attack on you or a joke. Deal with it.Sorry to put things so bluntly, but people need to lighten up. (probably myself included after that)/rant
