I'll be in Vegas Sep 16-19 for the Silver State Classic.

If anyone wants to meet up during this time, let me know.

Corey,

I hope your car is done before then, but If you can make it to Vegas, would be great to meet up

Gah, we just re-organized the trip yesterday and it looks like we'll be down there July 26th to the 3rd. I wouldn't mind putting it off longer though... those dates were made up by a few friends that I'm going with. If we do, I'll make sure and give you a shout :D . I'll be calling Vegas tonight (provided I remember) to find out how the car's doing. Hopefully not too much longer, and hopefully the bill won't be humassive.

Greg will also be down there, though I forget when...

I'm guessing 2100 miles and the tech inspection.

Both are brutal.

If you're in vegas, shoot me a PM. There are a bunch of us nissan/infiniti owners in the local SCCA group, plus there's always our local 240sx group, http://www.nv240sx.org to hang out with :)

I'll run in the classic :)

What's the fastest tech class you can run in as a first timer? 130mph? You know if they'll count road racing experience as valid?

By that time I should be tuned to about 350 or so rwhp, and i'll most likely have the roll bar in place then too!

Matt - I take it you guys will be at the convention in full force?

NICOmom and I will be up there on Thursday to help set up - It'd be nice to meet some of the locals!

We certainly will, well, at least those of us that you'd want to meet :)

There will be a bunch of us hanging around giving Doug all the help he needs. I'm also looking show all the drifters what real grip driving is all about ;)

I need more info on this event. I live here in Vegas so I'm interested. Is it taking place during all 4 days or can you run fewer days? What days of the week are they? Last decision would be whether to take my turbo Z or my Q. Mark

Mark,

It's kind of an all 4 days thing. They've got a "school" for first-timers to the event @ LVMS, then there's tech, the drive out to ELY or wherever, misc stuff on saturday, then the actual race on sunday or something like that. I'm 100% doing it :)

http://www.openroadracing.com has all the info.

EDIT: oops, that site above runs similar events. the "original" one is http://www.silverstateclassic.com, it's being run on September 16-19.

silverstateclassic. The actual event is 90 miles. You pick a speed and try to basically peg it the whole way. I'm going in the 120 bracket.

It's a 4 day event, you meet the fellow racers, if you never entered you get to run your car at the derek daily track and have some fun :)

Yeah, I edited my post when I realized that. I saw the openroadracing trailer out @ willow springs this past weekend and must have had that on my mind.

I'll be entering the classic in september. Just have to find a navigator now :)

Funny story... they didn't get the information to Ernesto until about a week ago! Apparently they gave it to the tow truck driver to give to him, but the tow truck driver forgot. Luckily I called Ernesto himself to see how the car was doing and he asked me if it was "the 94' blue Q45a that's been sitting outside for the last two weeks..." When I heard that I was pretty awe struck... I'm surprised he didn't have the car towed! So keep your fingers crossed everything will be done in two weeks time!!! This is seriously cutting it close... I have faith in Ernesto though, hopefully he'll be able to get it done.

I just talked with Ernesto last Friday about a friend of mine's Maxima he is gonna do work on. I shoulda asked him how yours was coming along. I forgot about yours being there at the time. He should have it ready for you. He's good.

The Q should be able to take it if it is current on all its maintenance.

The tires are another story. Be careful. :(

Fred,

I hope so. I have that JDM transmission cooler from the yahoo jp auctions being shipped to me now. I will be looking at doing something with the cooling system. If I can't get a nice unit like hitmans in time, I will make sure the stock unit is pristine.

Going with the top of the line ZR rated michelin pilot sports.. Thinking about 255 or 245.. They are about 230 a piece, but the M5 guys love them, and they are rated at 100.

The car is current with all maintenance. New Eibach springs & Tokico blues as well as 4 drilled/slotted rotors. New Kuhmo tires should be fine for the run. I am reading up on it (from its site) now & will determine what class to enter.

Not if they are under the minimum load rating.

High speeds + below minimum load rating + high temperatures => the OEM recommended safety margin is gone.

No matter. I plan on running my 300zx turbo instead. I don't want to run my daily driver Q. I do not worry about the tires though. They way I drive it on the street, if they were gonna blow, they woulda done it already. My Q drifts through corners with such control. I guess the Q45T rear sway bar would take that looseness out of my Qs rear end huh?
