What a frickin day... after a successful Seafoaming of the engine I drove out to my mother in laws for Sunday dinner. When I got there her father disconnected my battery to reset the check engine light from the Seafoaming. What ever he did I don’t know, but I heard a electric spark sizzle noise and asked if he were alright? I was inside the car, he said his wrench that was removing the negative cable touched the battery bracket and arced. It put a perfect circular hole about 1.5 mm across (very small) and about 2 mm deep in the negative post on my Diehard battery. Scary but all was ok- drove home engine light never came back on.. in driveway car started this really rough idle like never before.. then the VDC off /ABS/ and SLIP lights came on. More rough idle then died. Trying to restart I got the clicking we have all heard from a dead battery. Did he short circuit the battery? My charge light battery light was never on. I kept watching the cluster for the CEL, never a charge light.. so what gives you think? What a day.. Thank you Ed for your replies to my previous posts. I haven’t gotten to read them as of yet-

Lol, no worries we'll keep chasing this tail. Just respond when you get a chance to, more urgent matters to be attended to first of course.

I think the battery is shorted. I don't see how touching the negative terminal to an engine bracket will arc. Every metal component in the engine bay is a negative terminal if you think about it. That's why some manufacturers recommend jumpstarting by touching the negative wire to the engine block or a metal component; and why Nissan only typically puts a red guard over the positive one.

I'd say get a good battery and progress from there.

Thanks Ed, I sure hope your right.. I know cars do weird things with low power.. but, Windows, Navi screen excetra have fallen off piece by piece today.. I’ll get a new battery tomorrow when Sears opens and see what’s really going on.. the one thing that really really bothers me is the gas pedal not responding at all.. reverse and drive have absolutely no response to a feathered push to a punch it push.. I’ve got to get back on the road ASAP.. ECU’s scare me on EBay, some require programming some don’t.. some are 139; some are 225.. identical ..
