Have a 2008 Nissan rogue with 59,000 miles on it. Recently, the VDC and slip lights came on. The lights would disappear after i turn off then on. Should i be concern? Can I drive the car? Bad sensor? Never had an issue with those two lights until now.

Typically, this is the result of a sensor malfunction (or sending info that there's a mechanical malfunction).

Start with the easy stuff: Check the brake fluid level. If it's low, check your pads. If they're worn, it's time for a brake job, and you're due for a brake fluid flush anyway. Next, check your brake lights. If there's a light out, or an error in the brake light circuit, that'll do it. Then, check your brake light switch at the pedal - if it's acting up, it'll cause the same symptom.

So, it is either brake light, brake fluid or sensor malfunction?

I dislike going to the dealership for any car issues. They overcharge on purpose.

Those big buildings don't get built for free, and those techs don't work for charity.

We do, however.

But you've gotta be willing to put forth the effort and check everything, systematically, until the problem is identified.

I was charged for unnecessary repairs without my consent. I had a number of bad experience before making my judgment! Also, the system is messed up when the guy up front is being paid based on commission.

The right brake light is out. Replace the whole unit or replace the blub?

MY 2008 rogue also had been doing this for a few months. Then suddenly I had no go ! I thought "oh boy must be the transmission." It was a simple brake sensor. all symptons resolved.

Just the bulb.

Do a search under the Rogue forum, I think someone posted how to do it before. There is also a thread for replacing the bulb.

Actually here is a good one, http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/Niss ... ent-Guide/
