VDC light

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have 80K on a 08 EX Journey and now the VDC light comes on usually during heavy acceleration and then stays on until new driving cycle. The rear pads were changed by PO and I am wondering if low pad thickness can cause the light to come on. Also I have about 40k on the Envigor tires now. Transfer case has original oil.

All ideas are welcome!!!
Thx guys

The light has remained off for the last few days and I did check BF level yesterday finding it to be between full / fill levels. I topped it off with dot3 and will continue to monitor.

I have heard of difficulties changing rear brake pads especially the caliper bolts ( space & tightness ) and was wondering if you don't need to change rotors is the job much easier??? Usually pads & rotors are easy/peasy and I am hoping these are no different.

Thx guys :)

if i were you i would get that checked out as soon as possible because my 3.5se altima did the same and then out of nowhere my transmission gave out so just to play it safe i would take it to the stealer, not all are scam artists lol

Provided that there are no issues with seized bolts, changing the rear pads is really easy. Only the top slider bolt needs to come off to get access to the pads. The rotors are more of a challenge to remove, but not impossible if you have the right tools, techniques, and experience.

NJGuy - I do all my brake work and I usually don't have any problems but I hear the upper bolt offers little space to work in. Also I will be in my garage with the car on jack stands and was concerned with the tough bolts. I am going in for service today so I may ask the tech to just break them loose and resnug for me.

Thx - TTYL

I personally found the lower bolts harder to access and remove than the upper bolts. But your experience may differ from mine. If you hadn't already seen my thread on the rear brakes, check it out here: my-not-so-fun-rear-brake-job-t604439.html

If you can get the tech to crack the bolts loose, I think you'll be ahead of the game; especially if the hardware is corroded. And it'll also help if you are planning to change out the rotors, as I think the caliper bolts are torqued to around 80 ft-lbs; just about what the lug nuts are tightened to. If/when you do end up working on your brakes, please let us know how it works out for you.

NJGuy - returned from the shop and was advised I have 4mm left on rear pads & 6mm left on fronts. I was told the wear sensor would start singing at 3mm. Today I could not hear or feel anything out of the ordinary, I was going on what the wifey felt & heard. I plan on putting on stands today & spray wd40 on caliper bolts and attack these animals tomorrow.

BTW - I will review your write up.
THX
