I have a 2011 Altima 2.5 SL. Noticed that it is leaking oil from the valve cover. I want to replace the valve cover and the gasket. Any leads to where I can find step by step instructions to tackle this task?

Easy-peasy on a 2.5, there's almost nothing to it. If you get the OE Nissan rocker cover it comes with tube seals and a fresh PCV Valve. Not expensive, about $75 list, $40~50 online. Take the spark coils off, then use a needlenose pliers to detach the harness restraints on both sides (you pinch the pawls on the restraint to take it loose, don't pry on them). Take the perimeter screws loose (10 I think) and pop the rocker cover. Use some RTV on the corners of the new gasket where it "humps" at the driver's side end, no sealer anyplace else. Torque on the screws isn't critical as long as you don't over-torque, they're shoulder-screws and will automatically put correct tension on the gasket when the shoulders bottom. I usually use finger-torque, 1 finger's worth on a 6" 1/4-drive ratchet.

So no need to remove the engine mount bracket?

Chit, forgot, the gen4's have the wraparound mount, you can't sneak it out. My bad. Yes, you need to loosen (but not remove) the dog bone and then pop the two mount brackets loose with a jack under the engine. Still not all that difficult. Here's a vid, the guy takes a bit more loose than he needs to but you'll get the idea.

It’s easy. I did mine in under an hour without researching how to do it. The mount is the biggest obstacle but is no prob if you have an impact. More manual labor if you don’t. I used a 1/4 in drive to torque the new one down. No rtv needed and no leaks without it. Make sure you start from corner to corner and work your way in.
