okay so i posted a while ago saying i had low compression in all my cyliders.and was told i needed a new engine.but my brother in law was thinking maybe it was the valve seals. so we took off the head flipped it over and it looks like there arnt even any seals there.im jus seeing if ya'll think this could cause low compression and a puff of smoke out my tailpipe everytime i press on the gas.

thnks guys(ladies?)

Low compression, yes. What color is your smoke?

Anyway, I'd get a leakdown test done (shouldn't cost much) and pinpoint *exactly* what is causing your low compression instead of just guessing.

valve stem seals, if they're bad or in your case not there, will make you burn oil (your exhaust smoke should be tinted blue-ish as a result).

How many miles are on the motor and are you positive there aren't any valve stem seals on it? I find it highly unlikely that you're missing valve stem seals unless the previous owner tried messing with it. In which case, you might also want to try doing a leakdown test as well.
