I am wanting to get a 94-96 q45 and I havent been able to find some things I was wanting to know. First and foremost, what mileage do they get doing 60-65mph? What RPM do they run at 70mph? How many gallons of gas do they hold? I am a firm believer in synthetics so is there anything that will not be happy with synthetic oil? I know my dodge has to have their $20/quart dealer oil in the trans or else it will get all screwed up, didnt know if the q45 had anything needing very specific stuff too. And is there anything wrong with adding octane booster to 87 so that the high compression beast will be happy? Seems a hell of a lot cheaper to do it that way than pay 50 cents a gallon more. Sorry if I seem too technical about things

By your questions it is obvious that you are not an automotive engineer and have been brainwashed by lots of advertising and slick marketing.

Octane booster chemicals are very weak as the octane points they reference are 0.1 points not 1.0 points as they falsely appear to promise. So to get 4 REAL POINTS you need 4 bottles per 10 gallons of gasoline.

Too much booster will foul the spark plugs and intake valves due to organic metals [ferrocene and manganese] compunds.

Nothing is less expensive than buying premium even with it's 30>40 cents per gallon increment over regular.

22.5 gallons and based on 19.5 years and 232k you should average 18-19 MPG blended with a 22 highway MPG. If you exceed 60 expect things to decline by 1-2 MPG highway 1@70 and 2@ 80.Expect 15-16 or worse in all city driving, worse if you don't drive calmly.

70 mph = 2333 rpm with 215/65/15 tires - obviously increases as tire tread wears down.

More just that I never owned a gas vehicle All my time and effort is spent on reading about diesels. So I guess I will stick to shell vpower. Anyhow, that mileage dont sound too bad. I somehow manage 25 out of my cummins but I cant really resist something that is a complete sleeper and has a 300hp v8 I am tired of listening to my rod knocker too, and the straight piped q45's I hear on youtube are incredible. Any probs with anything being switched to synthetic on these? Thanks for your help

You may start to notice leaks in the valve cover gaskets more, meaning oil leaks onto the headers which creates smoke and smell. You can tighten the nuts for now (be very careful, it is aluminum), but it is best to replace them, it is more of an annoyance if it is a small leak.

It is best not to go synthetic now as it could be a waste unless you have the cash. If you know the history on the car, oil change intervals and the motor is clean you could go synthetic. I never switched because there is no need to because they probably used dino oil in the first place.
