Which manifolds mount the turbo on top? I've heard that the revhard would bout that the ports would be badly misaligned. Where can I find them online or any other brands? Does RevHard have a site? I tried a search engine but I keep getting DA "performance" :rolleyes

http://www.executivecleancar.c...x.htm

http://www.back-yard-productions.com/

http://www.autoimaging.com/ <- Check the Performance section, next to Bee-R they list they make a KAT manifold, but its not on the site...

I think i have more, but i cant find them now...bah

Thanks for the reply, maybe I should be more specific though. What I was looking for is a production turbo manifold that is designed to have the turbo mounted on top. I know about BYP, but they require your car to be present because they make "one-off" manifolds. The Revhard is excellent from what I've heard but it's designed to have the turbo under the manifold (not much room that way) and if I flip it over the bolt pattern will match but not the exhaust ports. I'm trying to do this myself and I don't have the tools or really know how to match ports. I understand the concept but concepts won't get my engine working properly ;)

But thanks for the reply aleph1

Ya I know, thats what sucks about RHs manifold. You might wanna contact them to make sure, who knows...maybe they changed the design...? Worst comes to worst you could always buy the RH and see if a local shop can port match it for top mounting. eh?

dofbft: have any pictures??

Besides the ones you listed, there is the F-max manifold which is log style but quite a bit more than the RH. Also, GReddy's kit, whenever it comes out!!

The problem with the RH is a few of the bolt holes and the flange itself. There is a bit of a flaw in the design of the RH manifold when dealing with heat expansion. The 1 piece flange works well with other engines, but apparently not too well with the KA so other manifolds you see will have each port flange separated. I've only heard of a few who have had RH manifolds cracking on them several times, but I don't know what the situations are that might have caused this, maybe higher boost, aftermarket internals, i dunno...

Other than those, i'm still looking into good manifolds myself.

The manifold listed above(http://www.executivecleancar.c...x.htm) is a direct replacement for the RH mani. It is port matched for top mount, has large smooth runners, can come with an EGT port, and is designed with heat expansion in mind. The only bad think I can see about it is it's made from mild steel. A coating may make it more resistant to heat.

I've run the revhard, top mount for almost 6 months and no cracking problems as of yet.

I wish RH would revise their manifold, I think that would be the best one for the money. But if I HAD to buy a manifold right now, Id go with the one from the cleancar website, for 650 or whatever and get it jet coated.

What is a jet coating? How much is it? I'm guessing it promotes heat dissipation. :pface

the only problem with the $650 turbo manifold is that you have to get 9 other people to buy it with you at the same time
