so I have been reading up on VGT, and most applications seem to have these turbos exclusivly in diesel applications. so there is a lack of information in smaller gasoline engines.

how exactly would this affect spool in a small displacement engine?

for topics sake, lets say you had a GT40R with vgt on an sr20. what would the spool time be like? would that actually make a big turbo like that streetable?

VGT is a Holset technology so you'll never see a Garrett GT40r w/ VGT. Up until recently, VGT has been diesel exclusive but the new Acura RDX will have the first VGT turbo/gasoline engine application.

Maybe try researching Garrett's VNT technology.

Porsche has beat Acura out with their 911 Turbo, it has two VGT turbos.

the turbo has a vgt solinoid that i hook my ebc too. and i do not need a wastegate because the vanes on the exducer open up to reduce exhaust velocity.

or at least thats how i understand it.

The car has already been tested and is in production. They are taking orders now.

I translated that and it's an ivitation to the debut of the car, not an order form. Either way, as I previously stated; they are both 07's and both use the same VGT technology. The RDX is also already in production and will hit dealerships this summer. The real questions are; a) what does it really matter and b)why are you so anal retentive?

I don't really know. I think the solenoids are preset from the factory. Do the solenoids read boost directly or does it get signal from the ecu? Like I said, I don't know. A wastegate still seems like a good idea though.

Talk to this guy, he sells em and buys em so I'm sure he can answer some questions for you especially if he sees you as a potential client. http://www.vgturbos.50megs.com/index.htmlebay user ID: cut383sgirl

they have a nipple for a pressure signal just like a regular wastegate actuator?

Spools like a small turbo at lower engine rpm and then it spools like a larger turbo at higher rpms.

As I said before, even if you figure it out, you still need to run a wastegate. If that solenoid gets stuck, you'll be boosting 40+psi.
