Hello and welcome to the NICOClub forums otto888man!

The engine in the Rogue is the 2nd generation QR25DE motor which first appeared in the 2007 Altima. The X-Trail sold in Canada used the 1st generation of the QR25DE.

On the 1st gen motor, the intake manifold had 2 separate runners. A butterfly valve would open up at +5000 RPM to allow the shorter intake runner to be used increasing horespower.

This variable induction system was eliminated on the newer 2nd gen QR25DE. The intake manifold has been redesigned and is now a one-piece unit with a single runner and no butterfly valves. Despite this, the 2nd gen motor makes similar horsepower. This is partly due to a slight increase in compression ratio.

The only other major changes between these engines were:

- Revised engine mounts with a new upper mount- Revised balance shaft assembly

Otherwise the motors are very similar.

Footnote: It's important to note that new SAE testing procedures were introduced in the past few years so the new vs. old HP ratings cannot be directly compared.

The Rogue doesn't have a lockable fuel door.

No, I'm not a Nissan Tech. I'm just a car enthusiast (mainly Nissan's) and the moderator of NICOClub Rogue forum.

I used to have an '03 Altima 2.5S so I am very familiar with both generations of the QR25DE motor. It's probably a good thing that Nissan eliminated the variable induction system. There were a small handful of '03-06 Altima's and Sentra's that had issues with the butterfly valve retaining screws on the variable induction system coming loose and damaging the motor.

And koolyce is correct, none of Rogue's regardless of year or trim level come with a locking fuel door.

Yes, read more in this thread: Locking Gas Cap

Part numbers are listed about 1/2 down. The Stant locking gas cap is not without it's issues. Many have not gotten theirs to seal properly and get a check engine light.

The 2010 Rogue information has already been released. There is a new 360 option package and chrome exterior door handles on all models. No locking fuel door... :-(

You can find answers to many commonly asked questions in the Official Rogue FAQ.
