I am doing another sandrail project with the 3.5 Nissan engine. We are running all aftermarket computer (F.A.S.T.) and wiring harness. Last time we left the variable valve timing solenoids disconnected and the motor ran great. This time we were thinkingabout trying to engage them with the nitrous circuit. Any opinion on this or some insight how the vvt works from the factory. Thanks

vvt should really help out your midrange punch(nissans trademark powerband). what rpms do you see on a regular basis. all nissan vvt systems that i have had to mess with advance the intake cams around the midrange and then retard them again at the high end. the reason for the advance is that it gets the valves open earlier for valve overlap and the scavenging effect. as the rpms go up that weakens and more power is found by holding the valves open a little longer and letting the "air column" just ram its way on in. if you are only going for top end hp then a simple adjustable sprocket will prob net you more total hp.

T4 at 9psi boost. 400+ horsepower. Car is 2000 lbs with a standardshift transmission. I will set the rev limiter at 6700 RPM. Duning in and outof the throttle from probably 3000+. Does anyone make a sprocketto replace the vvt assembly. I could also try to pin it in one posistion. When the computer engages the solenoid does it advance or retard the cams. Thanks
