Again, I've dealt with this issue as well.

The reason you are smelling gas is because the burning oil is fouling your spark plugs.

The fouled plugs are producing a weak spark, and thus having a hard time burning the fuel.

The gas smell completely went away when I changed my plugs. It has not returned in several months, despite the engine continuing to burn oil.

The best way to change the plugs is to remove the upper and lower intake plenums.

This is a great time to change your PCV valve (it will be fouled and stuck) and inspect your lower plenum to see how many screws you are missing.

Like I said, I was missing eight screws and three of my butterfly valves were stuck inside the intake. I fished them out with a magnet.

I ordered some replacement screws from Fastenal and a helpful member here sent me a butterfly valve to replace one of mine that had cracked inside the intake.

This is also a great time to replace your upper and lower plenum gaskets.

I would also recommend checking your compression while you are replacing your spark plugs. It will give you an idea of how well your engine is doing.

Don't bother removing your throttle body from the upper plenum. Remove them as an assembled unit.

Check out the power valve screw sticky thread on this forum, or pick up a Haynes manual for good instructions on how to remove the plenums.

This sounds like a big ol job and my shop access is now over. I could do this in the driveway but worry what would happen if I had to leave the intakes off overnight, rain, snow ect. I would like to have the plugs and compression checked before I make any rash decisions. Along with maybe someone listening to the injectors for problems. Do you think I could continue to drive with this issue for 6 months. I worry the damage could become worse in this time. I may have to let her go.

What do you think a fair shop charge for a proper diagnosis would be. Maybe I could have a compression test and PCV changed and have them look while they're there

You can do the plugs without taking off the intake manifold and it can be done in an afternoon in your driveway assuming you don't have any issues with unbolting things or breaking a plug etc. It mainly involves moving wire bundles and the air box. There is a good write up on it in the How To section.

Well hopefully no one was watching but I went dip stick sniffing today. Every truck (all 2013) has the same slight sent of fuel. I think I'm being over sensitive . still plan on checking plugs PCV

Checking the valve screws and plugs would cure his uncertainty and paranoia... It's not too terribly difficult and can be done in the driveway. Just have a good place for your bolts and tools.
