Sooo....

A guy I know in Dallas is a huge fan of the TMNT as well as Vanilla Ice. In fact, last year at SEMA, AZHitman and I were invited to an afterparty where Vanilla Ice performed, and we also invited along the guy from Dallas (Jared). We got to meet Vanilla Ice and chat with him for a little bit, and it was totally rad.

Anyway, Jared has decided to attempt to throw a party/concert featuring Vanilla Ice and also the TMNT. So he's signed up on this site called crowdtilt. As it turns out, it's a pretty cool site. Basically, he is trying to raise $40k to put on this concert (venue, acts, security, etc). The reason I bring this up is that he's a car guy, we're car guys (and gals), and who doesn't like Vanilla Ice and the TMNT?

He's trying to get people to pledge $50 for a ticket or $100 for a meet and greet ticket. The way the site works is you enter your credit card number and you'll get a hold on your card for your pledge amount. At the end of 30 days, if the pledges "tilt," meaning around $36k in pledges is collected, your card gets charged for your pledge amount. If it doesn't, meaning he doesn't get enough interest, the crowdtilt site releases the hold on your card and you don't get charged anything. Pretty cool IMO.

I personally am a huge fan of Vanilla Ice. I bought a meet & greet ticket (or rather pledged for one) myself. I'll fly down to Dallas for the weekend, why not? The date of the "party" is going to be February 22nd (a Saturday).

So I'm just spreading the word and hoping to see more people sign up for it. The only way it's going to happen is if he gets more pledges to buy tickets. It'd be cool to get a group of NICOnaughts going. There's going to be a lot of car people there because Jared is the owner of www.ricekiller.com, so naturally all the invites so far have been to car communities. Let me know if you pledge for a ticket, I'd love to see you there if he's able to pull this off!

These are the guys that will be there, so it should be pretty legit: http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/mixmast ... p?page=all

Also, in regards to the $40k that is being questioned. Keep in mind, this is getting Vanilla Ice out to a private event. Plus, it includes the cost of the venue, security, opening acts, etc. There is a price breakdown on the crowdtilt page that explains what everything costs, so it's very transparent.

It's no different than paying $50 for a concert, only this should be much more awesome because it's a private event. It looks to be on track to pulling it off, but I'm just trying to help keep the momentum going, because I'd love to be there!

Wow, $40k for a concert seems cheap to me! Sometimes the DJ's on my radio station talk about how much it costs to book various bands and venues. Most are in the 6 figures.

"Jared's" douchetastic microsoulpatch puts my brain into "I really do despise humanity" hyper-overdrive, at which point I have no thought power left for anything else.

I heard this Jared fellow drives slower than mod walks but only in parking lots mind you.

Side note my uncle went to high school with Danny urbech the guy who wrote the first tmnt movie. He was out at my uncles beachfront condo one summer during the height of the first movies craze with a very expense looking lady
