Valvetrain rebuild

I have searched around but didn't really find what i wanted to know. I am about to rebuild my valvetrain and wanted to know if i should keep it stock or should i go with the stainless steel nitrided valves with dual springs and titanium retainers. I plan on running 20psi+ on a t04e turbo. My bottom end is already fully built so not worrying about that. I also do not plan on increasing the redline. Just wanted to know if i should waste more or less money.

I'm kinda interested also. My guess would be to leave it alone or rebuild with OE spec valves/springs. Upgrade cams and just clean everything up/port match intake and exhaust manifolds.

If you plan on getting bigger cams in the future , you should definately go with dual springs and titanium retainers. I am not sure about the valves though. If you have gone through the trouble of building up your bottom end, you might as well save yourself the trouble later on and invest in a stronger valve train now.

May I ask why? Do yo think it is necessary or beneficial if he doesn't plan on reving any higher? Why should he spend the extra $320? Just playing the devils advocate, I'm interested in your reasoning.

bigger cams usually have more lift which puts more stress on the valvetrain. Plus you get the peace of mind.

While you're in there you might as well do it.

If you retain the stock cams, no need to unpgrade the valve springs. You would actually lose a small amount of power as stiffer springs will create more friction and load against the cam lobes. Stiffer springs are required when you run higher RPM and or a more agressive cam profile that might induce valve float. The stock springs should be sufficient for most moderate cam swaps already. And frankly, the valve springs are not terribly hard to change if you end up swapping the cams later anyways.

when you swap valves and springs, cams, and such. what about the valve seats, ya put valves with harder coatings, and such ya tear the seats up, any one have any suggestions about that

The seats are already hardened from the factory. Messing with them can soften them. And unless the that actual contact points of the seats are narrow, I doubt you will do much damage.

SO let me get a few things staright, I want to canyon & auto cross my KA24DE. If I just rebuilt my head (which it needs anyways) keeping it OEM, will it cause me problems later on pushing it over and over agian? Would it be neccessary to upgrade valves only?
