Well, I finally got my car put back together and fired it up today. Sounds nice, I love the deep note of the KA. But there is a rattling noise coming from the engine bay. Sounds like pushrod rod noise knock in a V8. I thought it might just be the valvetrain rattling since there was no oil up in there yet and I did use a good deal of moly putting in the cams. Just had the head rebuilt: completely disassembled, hot tanked and cleaned, 2 new valves, reshimmed for new BC V2's. Car runs great and sounds like a beast, but I wanted to get some insight on this before I disregard it or freak out over it. Thanks.

PS Sorry for the repost, just wanted to make sure I get a second opinion.

did you replace any timing chain guides or tensioners? the ka's are known to make chain noise adn that the upper guide also wears down and allows noise

New timing kit and no upper chain guides, just the tensioner (I heard that those just make noise and the dealer told me they were unnecessary)

your upper guide is more than likely worn. its very common on the KA's

I did not include either of the upper guides when I set the timing, just the tensioner. I used a screwdriver against my ear to listen for where the noise was coming from and it sounds the same near the rear of the valvecover as it does from the front by the chain. I'm stumped but she runs great and revs well, just a little noisy.
