Valves ticking. My engine sounds like diesel. need help on how to adjust valves

hi, i have 210k miles on my 1995 240sx. valves sounds loud. i think i will need to adust them. trying to find how to adjust valves at nico tech but my engine is not listed. has anybody have any info on how to adjust the valves? please share info if you have any.

Ka24 motors use hydraulic lifters. If it is definitely the valves making the noise, you have a lifter or oil pressure problem.

It might be worth trying some fresh oil and some sort of "lifter treatment" oil additive.

i dont think the DE's.. had hydrolic rockers... i think it was just the SOHC's...

and you cant just adjust your valves. valves are cut to match the depth of the seat in the head. now if you just had some head work done. then i can imagine if someone didnt do a correct job the valves could be smakin around in there makin noise.

to start off dude i would do an oil change and put some thick oil in there like 10 w 40,10w50 or some 20w50 see if it goes away or quiets down a bit

They don't have hydraulic rockers, but they do have hydraulic lifters. They can be adjusted by using shims.

Yes the lifters can be shimmed. You can check the clearance by taking off the valve cover and taking a feeler gauge and rotating the cams till the valves are both closed and stick the feeler gauge in between the cam and the lifter. The clearance should be from 0.013 to 0.016. If its to loose, like bigger than 0.016 that will def make it tick. All you have to do is re-shim the ones that are either to loose or to tight.
