Hey guys, i have a 06 mt coupe and it only has 10k miles on it. i do push it time to time. i can hear valve taps, and sometimes after a long drive it gets really loud. i do my oil changes every 2000 miles and i use mobile 1 synthetic 5w-30 oil. the dealer ship had already tested my car for consumption test and it was fine. anyone know if anything is wrong? or should i just add in 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Only add oil if the oil level drops. If you are sure its valve tapping, perhaps try a slightly heavier oil.

What type of gas are you using? 87, 89 or 93 That might cause a pinging noise??

I had an 86 300zx with 150K, it would make a tapping sound when the oil needed to be changed. Usually around 3000 miles on the oil....the shop said it was just weak lifters. But it was pretty annoying.
