Haven't been on here for a while. 2008 Versa S. Use Amsoil and Amsoil oil filter. Lot of highway miles. I asked a while ago about a valve tap. A lot of people on here said that was the norm and I should not worry. Well I decided to bring it in and let them check it out. ( 52000 miles ) The service guy called me the next morning and said" not sure what it is but we are ordering you a new engine. He also kept the car and waited till the morning to let the mechanic listen when cold because I told him that is when it is most noisy. He said that it is a new engine not rebuilt because they don't have any rebuilt one's yet? Can't believe how quiet it sounds now. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. The funny thing is,it didn't run bad, didn't burn oil didn't hesitate. It ran fine except for the tapping

I remember how well my car ran when I drove it off the lot. When at stop lights it felt like the car was off.

I actually went to get gas one time and forgot to turn off my car cause it felt like it was off so when I was done and went to start it back up and it was like JLDGKHDSFHSDG!!! LOL

Wow. That's great service right there. A new engine over valve tap. This isn't always the case but usually if the engine doesn't sound right to you, then there probably is some defect with it. I'm at 36,000 miles and my engine is still quiet. No tapping, pinging, or knocking.

thats good info because i bought mine used with 40k miles on it, and it to makes allot of valve tapping noise when cold and they informed me that it is normal, but it started to get worse. I though by putting mobil 1 0w30 will help it but it still continues??? should i take it back and force them to look at it?

I don't exactly know that I would go DOWN in oil viscosity. But maybe up. I would try a 10w30 before I would put in a 0W30...

I've ran numerous brands of 5W30 all fully synthetic. Royal Purple, Mobile 1 ect and have always heard the tapping noise. I guess It's just a Nissan Engine.

5W-30 is recommended for all weather conditions. 10W-30 and 10W-40 can be used if the ambient temperature remains above 0 degrees.

No where in the manual does it mention 0W-30. I would use the manual's recommendation.
