Hello everyone, I posted this last night (please check it for a little more information)

zer...61906

I have done some more research and calling around to some friends that work on cars....Now my question is, if I have bad valve stem seals, wouldnt they only smoke on start up? I have a very very small amount of smoke when my car starts, but its really heavy after I let the car warm up....I was told valve stem seals will not leak as much after the car warms up...I dont want to have to tear the motor down or replace it if I dont NEED to....The car drives very smooth and has plenty of power and 180psi compression in all cyl....please give me some advice!! Thanks again!!!

some metals expand at different rates and different ammounts. while they may seal semi well when cold after the parts warm up and expand flaws in the seating surfaces or parts that are worn may not be seating properly ne more or worn guides may be allowing the parts to move ways there not suposed to.

Well I have a 91 coupe, and the owner before me changed the head g, before he sold it to me. He never thought about the valve s, so my car smokes just like yours does. So yeah change the valve s.

I just went for another test drive to do some trouble shooting. The car runs so strong and smooth aother than the heavy smoking. The car smokes the most under heavy accel. There is a lot of oil collecting in the muffler tip and there is oil splattered on the back bumper...it is not over heating and the oil looks brand new still. The compression is still 180 in all 4 cyl....Should I just replace this motor OR should I just replace valve seals and/or piston rings???? Thanks again!!!

Try replacing your valve seals and piston rings before you just toss the motor away.

Dont get rid of your motor, just replace the parts. And I just told you my car does the same thing as yours. . . Wait do you have a ka24de or a ka24e, cuz if you have a ka24e I say get rid of it for a ka24de, sr20det or the rb engine.

change your valve seals. i doubt its your piston rings if your compression is 180 in all four.

NISSAN240SX12 - Thanks for that information, I am going to buy a vaccum gauge today!!

vang_sx - Ive heard that there are 2 compression rings and 1 oil ring on the pistons....The compression rings are good, I think thats why Im getting 180 psi in all 4 cyl....I guess the oil ring can go bad and the car will smoke when warm, but still run good....I dont know how you can test the oil ring without pulling the head and doing an inspection...Im going to try the vaccum gauge and see what readings I get from that.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP EVERYONE!!!!!

Mine is smoking really bad out of cylinder 4 (narrowed it down by pulling the spark). I was stuck between either the rings being bad and/or the valvehead leaking. When i looked into the cyl. down through the spark chamber i could see a small glob of oil about the size of a m&m. Verifying that its more then likely not the rings. It was leaking down through the top. If it were the rings it woulda just burned up.

Try looking down in there at TDC with a good flashlight.
