Hi guys,

While I'm not a newbie at most other aspects of the car, I don't know much about the internals, only because I have yet to dig in and learn.

My question to you more experienced members is what sort of valve spring compressor do you reccomend? preferably one that you've personally used.

I ask because I have a spare ka24e head, and I would like to begin a full build up immediately. I have already found valves and springs and retainers, I just need to know how I should go about removing the old items. As soon as I can remove all these items, I will begin the porting and polishing, then install all new items including a reground camshaft.

Thank you for any help.

A "C" clamp style is what is reccommended in the FSM (factory service manual). I think that because of the way that the head is designed it would be difficult to use another kind.

You can add a short piece of pipe to the screw end of one of your existing compresors. You have to cut a slot or some sort of hole in the side of the pipe to get the keepers out.
