Seems like some cam regrinds would do wonders along with a proper intake and exhaust tune. 100hp/L doesnt seem all that out of reach like most pushrod v8's. Anyone know of any results of an N/A build?

Yeah, ****loads! I've been investigating down this path for a while, many of the superstock race cars here running the VH41 crank and sleeved down to 4L are still producing 500HP+

Factory valvelift is only something like 9.2 or 9.3mm, bringing that right out to 12.7mm (1/2") and changing the intake valve closure point for an increase in dynamic compression ratio should raise the curve across the whole rev range.

A VH45DE with 450HP at the flywheel with intake freed up a bit, extractors, valvesprings & cams doesn't seem out of the question. Do a search for old threads regarding this.

No offense the search function is not ordinary, but I do use it. I have found some things but not anything of serious significance. I do know a guy named john dixon is into what Im talking about. You are very prominant on here as well, do you have any "gems" for me to take a gander of? What intake mods do you mean?

Oh, I just meant removing the 65 chambers/containers/pieces of restrictive plastic rubbish from the intake tract, and putting a nice basic straight pipe down to the AFM & filter.

As soon as you change the exhaust and cams, all that stuff becomes redundant anyway seeing as it's tuned & setup to work with the factory configuration.

oh I also meant to ask what extractors are?

They're still sitting in my office corner as bits of unmachined roundbar!

Lowest priority right now, have been doing many other things. I can get cam regrinds cheap, or for a bit more I can get them gas welded to add material, then ground to retain factory base circle... so if you need some cams I can look into getting the price for you.

For me however, this is a project I will see through to completion probably next year sometime.
