On friday and saturday, I put my CA back in my car. Sunday morning I finished a few things up and the car started and drove perfect. I didnt know the timing was off. I was set to 5 degrees BTDC when its supposed to be 10. But the car still drove fine and pulled hard.

So monday I find out about the whole timing thing and set it back to 10 BTDC. I put everything back together and start the car and let it warm up. Car starts up fine. I start going around my neighborhood to leave to test drive the car and I hear a loud snap and the car shuts off.

I had a feeling it was the timing belt so I push the car back home and open the cam cover again and find out it was the timing belt that broke.

So I install a new belt, set the cams and timing back to specs and try to start the car. At first is kinda wants to start but wont. So I give it a bit more gas and it starts but idles rough (500 rpms) It revs kinda sluggish but the car still drives.

I check compression and its 0-180-30-150

So the next day I take the head off to check the valves. They all look ok, nothing looks bent or damaged on the valves and the pistons dont have any sign of valve contact. All the valves look like the close competely shut.

Until I can have a professional check it out, does anyone have any ideas of what else to check or what else it could be??

I am under the impression that the CA is an interference engine, which means that if the timing belt goes, then the valves can hit the pistons. Is it possible that only two of the cylinders can get destroyed by this?

that's a pretty good possibility, but i would think you would be able to see an amount of damage that would cause zero compression

Yea its interferance.

Since #1 is the one that had 0 compression, I expected the valves on that one to be totally screwed up but no, they all close shut completely.

Im about to try this method a friend told me to try. He said spray carb or brake parts cleaner down the intake and exhaust ports while the valves are shut too see if any liquid leaks by.

Ouch. :(

Which cylinders do you need them for? 1 and 3, possibly 4?

New valves for 1 and 3. I might as well do all of them.

I thinking of just going all aftermarket on the head. (cams, cam gears, valves, springs, solid lifters, etc)

If anyone knows of a good place/site please let me know.

Hey man, let me know what you need. I am not sure whether i want to part out my motor in pieces OR sell as a whole. I will decide once I pull the CA out.

If you part it out, ill take the whole head with everything in it.

And depending on how much money I have by then, I might buy your turbo, manifold and injectors also.

So just email me a price of just the head and a price of the head with the intake and exhaust manifolds, injectors, turbo and downpipe.
