Valve noise on a 1997 Nissan Frontier

My 1997 Nissan truck has developed a valve ticking noise on start ups that last until the temperature comes up to normal. Motor has 215K miles and runs like a top. My search has indicated that the valves on this truck are automatic adjusting. Any suggestions on how to correct this issue?
