Have a 1993 s13 with ka24de.Bought crower regrind cams to put into my newly built ka, apparently i've got some play between the cams and the shim and bucket over the valve spring, would anyone know if i can simply buy the thicker shim to fix this or do i have to remove the head and replace valves and shims?

The shop i left this car at was saying that they were going to have to take off the head and replace the valves because of the valve lash, though i dont see how new ones would stop the tick noise of valve lash if this tick is coming from the bucket hitting the cam because of a thin shim. Please help...thnx

#1..get a fila gauge and meshure inbetween your cam and shim..when the cam is facing upwords to the sky...write each one down..find the tightest fitting fila in the set in "MM" and link the meshurements here.....and so ya know..you can buy the shims sepratly and just re shim it..reason im asking for some meshurements..is i have some extras hangin round that are 2.58mm and lower that might be able to help you with for nothing.

thnx alot, think i'ma put the car in a shop that specializes in imports, car drives great and really picks up spead from about the 3-7k rpm range it just has a noisy tick to it though i've heard that solid lifters are always noisy. Hopefully this new shop will be able to have it back on the road pretty quickly but thanks for the offer
