I need to know what the spread is on the valve lash when the engine is cold

Is there anyone out there who would know?

Thanks

I thought you didnt have to worry about lash with the KA, that the hydraulic lifters were self adjusting or something like that. I may be wrong, but thats what they told me at the dealership.

Well for the DE heads, there is no 'adjustment' in the typical sense. There are round shims, which ride under the cam lobes, and on top of the valve buckets. These shims don't wear too much, which is probably why they told you an adjustment isn't necessary(unless you recently rebuilt the head). Not a bad idea to check them anyways.

Intake is 0.012"-0.015", exhaust is 0.013"-0.016". Remember a little loose is always better than a little tight.

thats the spec for a hot engine... he asked for cold...also running on the tigher side will give you more lift (dont get to carried away it will also raise the temp of the valve)

Oh yeah you're right, my bad. No spec is given for cold, although I bet that probably doesn't help your case. The engine is non running? If the head's off the block you can heat that and the cams in an oven; this will get you close enough.

I wish I had dialed mine in closer when I had some machine wk done on my head... now there are one or two that are waay loose, like 0.024"... Now it's become something I'm putting off b/c it's a PITA to change shims(IMHO)
