Yesterday i did some mods to my Ka24 SOHC, we made a short intake ram to the battery side, and i just left the Valve Cover vaccum hose (the large one) disconnected cause the new ram didnt have a large hole for that vacuum, after i turned the car on, my lifters started to tick!, so im thinking What did i do wrong?

I think the Vaccum hose on the valve cover uses the vacuum from the intake to help the oil or something am i right? could this hose disconnected make my car start ticking? cause i seen many cars with that hose disconnected to open air with a lil filter

Man im puzzled again...

why are so many noobs having problems w/ intake installs? hahaha.

You may be hearing the noise because instead of a hose dampening the sounds, now you have an open outlet to the world.

There are some guys that just leave it open, some that put a filter on it, etc - that alone doesn't cause your lifters to tick.

You most likely had that problem from before, and since you a working on your car, finally noticed it.

I agree.Do put the little filter on it. It keeps the crud inside on the inside and the dirt etc that is on the outside, outside.

Yeah you probably just heard it even though it had been there.

No im not so insensitive about my car xD would have noticed

I didnt know why that hose was there so i started thinking and thought it was some oil related thing (Vaccum helping oil or something like that O.o HEHEH)I removed all my intake hoses and stuff some time ago, only that one and another large one remained, after i removed the Valve cover one, ticking came in, inmediately i was puzzled, but it seems somehow in all the raising the car and moving stuff something happened.

Got more oil in there, cruised a while and my lifters came back alive (after some LONG while)
