Valve Cover Vent: Catch Can or Filter?
Ok, I am just wondering what is better for a valve cover...a little breather filter or a catch can. I have seen both used. With a boosted engine, does it matter? I am going to Home Depot Racing here in a bit and I am either buying parts to make a catch can (welder friends rule) or just a angle fitting and air filter.
Any particular reason?
The reason that I was think more along the lines of a filter was because with a can, dosen't it kinda seal off the valve cover? With it set up to feed into the turbo inlet stock, it sees vacuum while if I put a can on it, it becomes a sealed system. I thought the idea was to maintain the "breatheability" of the breather.

Cool, I found it. I just got some high pressure hose (3/8" diameter) put it in the hole, and ran it to a water bottle for now. I love being ghetto! My buddy Sean and I are going back to Home Depot Wednesday or so to get the stuff for him to make me a REAL catch can. Thanks for the input. I can now modify my original design to make it better.
On a side note: interesting to see how the UK spec CA has a different fitting that allows both valve covers to vent to the PCV...
