first off, this is not another crankcase ventilation thread.

my current setup is i have a hose going from my block to the valve cover "T", and then from the "T" to an oil catch can. the catch can is currently venting to atmosphere without any filter. (tomorow i am puting a hose to the catch can to the intelt)

when at idle, i can feel vacuum on that catch can opening when i put my finger on it.

my question is, should that vacuum be there?

not exactly. ther is a hose that goes from the block to the valve cover "T", then the other side of the "T: goes to a catch can. the remaining open nipple on the catch can has vacuum pressure at idle.

But again, what is that hose coming from the block?

I had a similar situation not too long ago. This is what my tuner told me to do.
Run the hose from the block to one side of the valve cover T, and the other side of the valve cover T to one nipple on the catch can, then a hose on the other nipple on the catch can, to a spot on the intake pipe(source before charge). This will properly complete a vacuum circuit.

Also, some oil catch cans out there have 2 nipples on them. Others have 3, these incorporate a breather filter. So, if you do end up running this setup you may want to block that off somehow. That way you don't get rid of a vacuum leak while creating another. Personally, I welded mine closed.

thats exactly how mine is setup now. if i was to disconnect the hose from the intake pipe, i can feel a vacuum in the catch can with my finger under idle. i was just wondering if that was normal cause i though that was for releasing pressure.

At idle, yes you will feel sight vacuum on the hose your talking about when disconnected from the intake pipe. It only acts as ventilation when the engine is under load(especially when running high levels of boost).
