I am finishing up the valve cover polishing project. The access panel turns out to be some type of laminated/fused steel with the rubberized seal that faces the inside area.

I can't really do much for plating that item because it is multi layered.. About all I can do it sand/clean prime and paint with some high temp ceramic engine paint. I think that if I try to paint the panel silver, I doubt it will look right against the now brushed aluminium cover.

What do you think about the access panels being a gloss black heat resistant ceramic paint?

Here's a picture of the valve cover below.

What about molding a clear plexiglass or other high temperature clear material in place of the metal panel?

Sorry I can't help more.

I have always wondered what those access panels were meant for- the later G50 does not have them? Why not paint them the same color as your cars exterior and underhood paint color?

My guess is to inspect the cams with a borescope?

Funny... my first very early production Q didn't have them either, but this one does. Must have been a rolling change.

I vote for some kind of carbon fiber look if you can pull it off.

VHT makes a high heat wrinkle paint that I might be able to get to match the spark plug covers.

Thanks Lino!

You know I like the way this one looks..

I think I like how the side bars have been polished down on the plenum top.

While I have mine all polished up -- I'm not completely happy with how the side bar areas turned out. I've been debaiting something similar with just the center Infiniti emblem.

My local Little Rock plating guy nickel plated the emblem and side bars -- then he spot plated just the Infiniti circle area in 24k gold.

I'm leaving right now to go pick up the rails and top fuel lines from the electroless nickel plater in Memphis.
