That leak will not cause you to lose any compression, unless you ran your engine dry on oil. Buy a new gasket, go to autozone, remove valve cover, and follow the fsm for reinstalling gasket and valvecover.

Before you go buying a new gasket, make sure that all of the valve cover bolts are tight. even the ones in the back, because the oil could be escaping somewhere else on the valvecover, and then treveling around and exiting in front.

that was what was going on with mine when i bought it.

Yeah that is the ticking. That writup explains valve cover removal/installation, as well as how to remove the unnessary chain guides. I suggest that you do it all at once. Follow it step by step, it is a really good writup.

thanks again so you dont need those guides at all why do that put plastic in a engine were they know metal parts are going to be in contact with it. seems kind of dumb to me. i forgot to ask you the clicking noise, dose that mean its broken of in there or just worn like one on link.

They are actually made out of metal. Nissan says they are unnessary. They are most likely not broken. The timing chain just kind of slaps agains them and causes the noise. Your timing chain is most likely in fine shape. Timing chain's generally outlast the motor itself.
