valve cover coloring

i'm going to be putting in a 96 KA in my car soon, and i thought maybe i should color the valve cover black just for fun. Have any of u guys ever used that engine block coloring spray or anything? did it work? I know this may be a little ricey, but i don't care, i think it would look pretty nice, plus i won't be keeping the KA for that long of a time anyways.
